'Dragon Age 2: Legacy' DLC due on July 26
50
Having become intimately acquainted with every dreary lane, dank cave and fragment of mortar in Kirkwall, you're surely entitled to a vacation in Dragon Age 2's first downloadable add-on -- even if it's necessarily perilous. On July 26, EA and BioWare will invite you and your heroic Hawke to the Vimmark Mountains, a new locale that grounds the story of Dragon Age 2: Legacy.
"Leave Kirkwall," the announcement commands, as you explore to a prison constructed by the Grey Wardens and foil a criminal cartel that's taken a keen, violent interest in the Hawke family's lineage. The ascent into "several new locations" also leads to Darkspawn enemies, a new class-specific weapon, more achievements and the opportunity to come "face-to-face with an ancient horror." (Well, at least it has a face.)
According to BioWare, Legacy is playable from any point in the Dragon Age 2 campaign. It will cost $10 on PlayStation 3, and 800 points on Xbox 360, PC and Mac.

@BrianH You know why DA2 sucked compared to DAO? Because EA had their greedy fingerprints all over it; it was rushed, uninspired and lacked soul.

"several new locations"
When they say new, do they really mean the three same instances over and over again...again?

I really liked the game, but for that price, I'm waiting for reviews. Especially since most of the DLC I've gotten wasn't quite worth the money (looking at you, Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt).

If you're making your decision based on impressions/reviews, why did you buy Dragon Age 2 at all?

@Alex Trebek When did I say I buy actual games based on reviews? Because I don't. But I do look at them before I buy DLC, and then if I buy it and don't like it, it's my own fault, which was the case with Witch Hunt.

Dude, Leliana's Song was the best of the bunch as far as the DLC for DA:O is concerned. Furthermore, it was only priced at $7... Well worth it for a nice separate story(and about 2 hours in length, at that) about one of the better characters DA:O had to offer.

I liked DA2 pretty well, not nearly as much as the first however. I will get this DLC for sure.

That's a little steep, I don't see myself paying that. I guess I'll have to know more.

Just focus on making Dragon Age 3 a better game and scrap all this crap entirely.

Dragon Age 2 is great and far better than the original Dragon Age and anyone who disagrees has autism

@ORTHROK Yeah because visiting the same ole dungeon throughout the whole game makes it better than DA:O.
Face it BioWare F'ed up on DA2
They had great Characters though. It just that everything looked the same.
Also why can't you customise your Companions Armour. as in put different looking Armour on them (not just increase their statistics)
In DA:O I could of levelled up my characters so they could all wear Epic Armour Sets. You can't do that in DA2 (oh sorry I meant Dragon Effect 2)
Not to mention my character and companions were limited to carrying one weapon type. (In DA:O I could have characters that could use Swords and Shield while still being able to Dual Wield Swords/Daggers or a Two Handed Sword/Axe/etc by switching them)
In DA2 you can only use certain types depending on your Characters class
Warrior : Sword + Shield/Two Handed Weapons
Rouge : Dual Wield-able Daggers/Archery
Mage : Staves and Spells
I'll still be buying this DLC considering I'm a DA Fan (I like the Story :D)
But BioWare better Fix DA3 and make it like DA:O instead of Mass Effect..

Dragon Age 2 had better characters, better story, better everything. All of your complaints are that you want an autism-friendly RPG where you can powerlevel all of your guys up and have to worry about equipping every little trinket on them. Dragon Age 2 is far better in every way for people who want to play a fun game
also "shadowmonkey987" hahahaha look at you signing your posts

Wow, let him have an opinion. He doesn't have autism because he wants more customization instead of an interactive story.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Sorry but I am not getting it. The characters were awesome, but the setting was terrible.
Unless Part 3 gets great reviews, I plan on skipping it.

Sooo, is this why there were only a couple different locations in DA2? To be able to make a DLC for each new location...?

Ugh, more achievements? Now I either have to get over my Obsessive Gamer Disorder and sacrifice my 100% gamerscore, or I have to shell out moe money on this admittedly mediocre game. The aaaaanguish! Damn you Bioware!

I'll have to wait and see how the DLC goes before I lay down the cash for it. I liked DA2, no where near as good as Origins, but I got some enjoyment out of it the first playthrough. Second attempt, not so much...After seeing every environment like 20+ times the first time, they just get old the second time.

I'll get it, but I was hoping it'd be cheaper. Itactually costs more than the Exiled Prince DLC, which had a whole new character, and it's also more expensive than most DA:O DLCs as well. It had better be worth it.

I hope DA3 is a real sequel to DA:O. DA2 just felt like a side story and everything we spent hours doing in the first game was pointless.
Posted: Jul 7th 2011 7:32PM (Unverified) said
@HT UK
There's never gonna be a direct sequel to DA:O. The idea has always been to have each DA game with a different character, in a different place, etc.

I played through two games of DA2 in less time than one playthru of DAO, so I’m suspect of a $9.99 DLC for this game. Also, I was really disappointed with the ending for DA2, with the all Roads lead to Rome ending (ie. you blow up the Chantry, yada yada yada), and I was even more disappointed with the stock ending. I’m really curious to see at what point, this DLC is going to allow you to begin. Is this going to be a Fallout 3 – Broken Steel type DLC or more like the DLC for Mass Effect.

Get the F%^k out of here, PC games always hold the longest development time, and since most publishers want the game to release at the same time on all platforms we usually end up waiting for more for barely noticeable difference, unless your just in it for the graphics and trainers.
That's all it boils down to is graphics, same game different textures, your not a gamer, just a graphics whore, you punk bitch!

I can tell you did not play the first on on the computer. It is not all about graphics you dumb ass. I dont care about graphics. It is about the fact that the game was dumbed down for the kiddies like yourself who play consoles.
I didnt have to pause the game to issue an order the entire time playing DA2. They completely removed the strategy element from the game and turned it into a easy just smash fest of boring. The first one actually required some thought to beat some encounters this one not so much. It was easy and a joke.

You know - there are several issues here. First DA:O was awesome. The story grabbed you, it was long & epic, you could start off many different ways and take a different road each time. You could tweak everything. There even was a handsome man who you could shag.
DA2 did have better combat, it was smoother and it still had some great humor. I think my grumbling about the game came from the lack of new scenery. The repeated alleys, caves and only city of Kirkwall. I'll be honest, I played DA:O through like 4-1/2 times. I still haven't finished DA2. I prob will go back to it, but I have no burning desire. My lame ass CALLED OF WORK to play DA:O... lol
Anyway, I might buy the DLC, I don't know. I certainly won't be adding that date to my calendar. I really think they should just work on DA3. Make it so good that I schedule a few vacation days for the week it comes out and prepare a few meals for the fam ahead of time because I won't want to stop playing to cook.
But again, the hype from DA2 was big... and then look what happened. I will tell you this - all those sites that have DA2 rated 9.5 and "Game of the Year" - I think a hell of a lot less of them now.
