From Dust moves From Xbox Live to PC on July 27

PC gamers have cut their teeth on world-building strategy titles since the dawn of time -- it makes sense, then, that Out of this World creator Eric Chahi's upcoming god game, From Dust, will arrive on the PC day-and-date with its Xbox Live counterpart. If you've got a hankering for cultivating a tribal island paradise and then volcanoing it to the ground -- or, more likely, a hankering for more Chahi -- you can grab the game from the usual digital vendors on July 27 for $14.99.

If you're still confused about what From Dust actually is, we can't say we blame you. Check out the developer diary above to get a brief tutorial of how your Godlike powers operate. We didn't see any plagues of locusts in said video, but we're assuming that particular ability unlocks later in the game.

Newest Developer Diary Explores Gameplay in the Upcoming Downloadable God Game

SAN FRANCISCO – June 29, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft® announced that From Dust™, a modern God game from visionary creator Eric Chahi, will be available for PC on UBIShop®, Steam®, GameStop® and other online digital services for $14.99 on July 27, 2011.

From Dust allows players to control the destiny of a primitive tribe against the backdrop of a world in constant evolution, in one of the most advanced real-time nature simulations, where everything you see and interact with evolves dynamically, offering a constantly renewed experience.

It's been covered pretty frequently on Joystiq since its announcement.

It reminds me of Black & White, minus the annoying pet. The manipulation of the environment seems fun, but I fear its more of a puzzle game than a sandbox game and will have limited replay value. Still, it seems like a solid game for a downloadable title.

I'll definitely buy it day one on the PC if it has a sandbox mode. If not, I'll wait for a price drop sometime down the line.

Those stupid pets would always end up misbehaving, so I would inevitably turn them evil.
No, don't eat food, eat people!
No, don't poop out in the field, poop on the villagers!
Toys are for losers! If you get bored, start throwing villagers as hard as you can!

I always thought that it was the other way around. PC to Xbox LIVE...

The game is a God Creation genre game which from what I know, is a PC-centric genre.

Well whatever I don't care, I'm still buying this game on Day One because I love God Creation games. =D

In case any of you were wondering and haven't been following From Dust's development, yes it's coming to PSN too. Just a bit later than the xbla/pc versions.
