I'm excited to see this come to the big screen, I hope they make it right and I hope they bring the tension of making choices and seeing the consequences of those choices... plus lots of action and things blowing up.. but please don't let Michael Bay direct it.

@Pennegan

yeah... as much as i loved Bay's Transformers movies, plot is much more important in a franchise like Mass Effect.

I'd like to see Noland take a shot at this, he brings a certain tension and drama to his movies that is consistent with the mass effect world. If he doesn't direct maybe he should produce, Or possibly JJ Abrams becuase of what he did with star trek.

Find out soon.

I'd say he's pretty much back on track after directing both Gone Baby, Gone and The Town (which he also starred in), so it might not seem like as much of a 'risk' having him star in this kind of movie.

Nope.
Matthew Fox/ Jack Shephard.
Duh.

And it could still be totally continuous with the Lost universe...
Turn a massive wooden crank, and poof!, a Mass Relay.

An interactive movie akin to the Mass Effect dialogue system where the viewer decides how the movie plays out?

-If you want Commander Shepard to fight Saren and the Geth press one now.
-If you want Commander Shepard to file his tax returns press two now.

They should just make it about a human traveling to a distant world inhabited entirely by Asari, with the rest of his species trying to take control of the planet. He'll eventually want to become an Asari, naturally, and lead a great battle against the other humans.

It was going so well until your comment. Thanks, Captain Obvious. That's your new name. Captain Obvious. Because it was obviously an Avatar reference. And you are now a captain... of the obvious. Yup, Captain Obvious.

The humans need a reason to go to an Asari world, so they should be trying obtain something rare and hard to get, call it hardtoobtainium.

@(Unverified) Notice at the bottom of that article how it says a proper film adaptation is being done by Legendary Pictures.

Now, look at the title of this article, which says that Legendary Pictures is doing a Mass Effect movie.

I'll wait.

Not really. I have a couple of friends who are authors, whose work has been optioned by studios. Even when they "helped" write the script, little of their vision or words came through. More like one core idea was taken from their work, and then an entirely different story was told around that idea.

I'm already thinking of arguments to say to people that hated the movie and reasons for why it bombed at the box office, even though I secretly didn't really like it either.

Interesting grammatical note. In most in-game dialogue and in the codex, when a species name is used such as hanar, asari, volus, or batarian, it is not capitalized. This is done to maintain consistency with the lack of capitalization on the species name "human". Furthermore, it treats those species names as regular nouns and not proper nouns-- so, if everybody got REALLY bored on the Normandy and Shepard was playing Scrabble against Mordin, "salarian" would be a viable word (though not a good one, as it would only be worth eight measly points until you factor in the use-all-seven-letters bonus; "volus", "geth", and "hanar" are also worth eight, "asari" is five, "elcor" is seven, "turian" would be six, and "quarian" would be sixteen before the use-all-seven-letters bonus if it were the first word played-- if not, pluralize it for an extra point).

I'm sure this info was first noted on a wiki somewhere, but I noticed it and thought I'd share.

That was nothing. I write Layton puzzles for the commenters here. I've written poems riffing on Percy Bysshe Shelley about the Atari 2600. I got more excited over the fact that the Wii U was confirmed to be multi-core than the pad, and that's because I overanalyzed what I thought its *underlying OS* structure would be like.

Nerdy is kinda what I do.
