Well, Blackops had it too, so it's not big news though. However it is nice of them to include it ;)

It's still worthy news though because a lot of features that are added in one COD game often don't show up in the subsequent COD game because of the fact that the developer changes every other game.

Not really necessary!? You must not suffer from color vision deficiency otherwise you would know what how useless mini-maps can be or what a PITA it is to differentiate friends from enemies when we first start playing a new shooter.

I'm colour blind. Does that mean I can remove wheelchair ramps because I don't feel the need for this option.

Thank goodness! Hop3fully the next consoles has this feature built into the hardware. My reason why i spent the majority of my first year in MW2 with a thermal sniper rifle instead of a lmg like everybody else,

@BigFat360 biggerbadderFatter I agree. I'm not colorblind, but these inclusive options should be mandatory by the consoles QA team, with an option in the dashboard or user profile toggling color blind mode.

I'm pretty sure it's not really the kinda thing that can be built into the console hardware, at least not without the chance of making the changed colors appear completely fugly, dithering and what not. I assume this because of the variation between a given hue and with the way textures and shaders are handled.

That said, the console makers definitely can make it a required guideline so that game makers have to build in the option.

I had no idea the percentage of color blind guys was that high. They need to add an option to Mario Kart for this as well. I remember playing the original Super Mario Kart with a color blind kid and he'd fire green shells expecting them to hone in on enemies.

Maybe there's workaround I'm not aware. Perhaps the art in the item box for green shells is different from the art for red shells? Any color blind people here to weigh in on this?

I never really had too much trouble with the red/green shells. I think I played it so much I got better at distinguishing the two. But it definitely was a problem early on.

I really didn't think that Modern Warfare had enough of a color pallet to even warrant that option. When all of your games consist of brown, green, gray, black, and white, those who are color blind really aren't missing out on much. Heck, that's why Uncharted 2 had that next-gen filter added, just to poke fun at games like these!

@FinalFantasyXIIIsucks

It's not about the color pallet. It's about the red and green dots on mini-maps and the indicators above people's heads. If you're colorblind, it's often really difficult to tell them apart.

Interesting to know 8% of men suffer from colour blindness, never knew the figure was so high, though I understand that most of them are probably only partially colour blind.

This is great to hear, I can't play any games with friendly fire turned on because of being colorblind. It can be extremely frustrating. It's the main reason I don't play team based games online. The slightest hesitation to check to be sure you are shooting at the enemy gives you a huge disadvantage.

I will say I have an easier time with the COD franchise. The worst game for me by far has been Uncharted 2. I would continuously get kicked from a match for friendly fire.

Glad to hear they are keeping us in mind.

It may not, I didn't play uncharted 2 online much and haven't in some time. I think the guy kicked me because I would try and shoot him (thinking he was the enemy) and I guess he thought I was just acting stupid or something.

In Bad Company 2, player tags were blue for friends, red for enemies. But the blue is hard to see in snow maps. You enable color blind options and they go greenish yellow and red.

Having trouble with some colors myself, it helped a lot!

It's nice they have added at least one new feature. The game is now totally worth the £55 Activision are asking for it.
