Actually, this is a very good concept. You know that time when a married couple go shopping and the wife asks "Does this make me look fat" like 50 times? Imagine if the changing rooms had Kinect and a screen instead of a mirror; he/she could had a 3D representation of how the clothing would look on him/her without having to actually put it on.

Neat technology for the PC but it's not even close to what Microsoft had accomplished 2 years ago with the 360 and Kinect.
You doubt me? Then check out the cool out of box clothes shopping functionality that comes with Kinect at 2:30. I use it all the time to order suits.

I think the games from that video are fantastic as well and I've played each and everyone of them for hours on end. The creepy staking lag free martial arts one is my favourite.
Microsoft, I love how you delivered everything you promised you would! Thank you and keep up the good work!

What, you mean the what the guys did or the ad that MS did? If you say that an advertisement is supposed to be s concept, then I don't think anything I can say will be able to enlighten you.
If you are talking about what these guys have accomplished, then yes I agree. I take off my sarcasm hat and applaud the guys who designed this piece of software that supposed to exist at launch. These guys are the reason why we are moving forward with technology. Sure it's in its infancy but considering Microsoft failed to deliver on another promise, it's a step in the right direction.
Kudos to Arbuzz!
Btw - great song.

@ToTheMoon I can only hope you're kidding. You know that Kinect, even today, isn't that responsive. There was virtually no delay between the person's actions and events on the screen. It's all staged. At the time that commercial was released, I bet they couldn't even get facial recognition down to the level it is today. That commercial is just that, a commercial. It wasn't a demo. Really, it was just a far-fetched concept that still today hasn't been fulfilled.

@ToTheMoon I mean, just look a few seconds later when they're navigating Zune Marketplace or playing the Q&A game. The Kinect does not function like that today. It just isn't that precise or responsive enough.

I was being sarcastic... my apologies for not putting in the /s tag.
The fact of the matter that the commercial helped sell a Kinect units and because the actual product does not even come close to living up to the commercial, it should be labeled for what it is: False advertising.
The last time I checked, false advertising is illegal in the States. Bell Canada just lost a court case and 10 million dollars for doing just that. I didn't like it when Sony did it with their pre-rendered PS3 movies for the PS3 or when other electronic companies do it.
Since there doesn't seem to be any repercussions to doing so, I think the best thing to do is call bullshit when you see it so people are aware of patterns that companies follow so know what you are getting into before you buy their product.
Microsoft took existing technology and packaged it up so it could be made available to the average consumer and for that, they get a nod of approval but what they promised Kinect could do.. well it's on the level of a Peter Molyneux promise. I know that's a low blow but it's definitely on par. Microsoft needs to learn to either keep things in the over longer to make them worthy (Xbox 360, WP7 and Kinect) or hire someone who has vision so they can plan to start developing this stuff sooner.

@ToTheMoon It's not false advertising, as it clearly states in the bottom of the video that it is Microsoft's "vision" for Project Natal. If people interpret it wrongly that is their fault, and Microsoft is not to blame. Microsoft didn't claim the Kinect would work as shown in the video, so they are not at fault.

Your problem wasn't the sarcasm, it was how ridiculously subtle and unfunny it was. Sarcasm/satire only works if what is being said is provoking in some way.

Ok, I thought you were actually serious for a moment. You are right though, we need to call these companies out on their bullshit advertising and promises. They all do it, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, and we need tio show them that shit won't fly anymore.

Well considering this is just a simple example from a group of guys fiddling with the system. You can be all but sure that a dev team with a nice fine budget could work wonders with that type of creation they made.

Interesting. I can see possible game applications. If the lag was cleaned up a bit, maybe you could use it to try on armor in an RPG. I think it's cool that people are exploring new ideas with this technology. Keep it up.

Kinect is not yet worth its $150 price tag IMO. I have yet to see anything fun or useful from Kinect or the hacks. I guess my 360 will stay in hibernation until Gears 3 comes out, oh well back to the uncharted 3 beta I go.

The world wasn't ready for you to wear a knee-length peacock-feather skirt last season, but the folks at Polish creative collective Arbuzz are paving the way for your fashionista debut with a new hack for Kinect. Virtual Dressing Room takes trying on clothes to the next level, using 3D imaging to fit a selection of clothes to your body, even as you skip across your living room like the little girl you are.
