The Internet is reporting that the lead designer on Bizarre Creations' Blur has created an independent game studio called Totem Games, but this is a lie. Parts of this story are true, and others are complete fabrication, most likely sewn together from the threads of space and time itself, as is often the case with online sourcing. Let us break it down for you:
Truth: Matt Cavanagh, a former Bizarre Creations employee, has created Totem Games Ltd., an independent game studio with a mission to help "make the world a happier place."
Truth: Matt Cavanagh was not the lead designer on Blur, nor did he work on any part of the game, as shown by Blur's credits and Cavanagh's tweet saying, "I did not actually work on blur. Cheers, Matt."
Truth: Matt Cavanagh worked on the city art in Project Gotham Racing and Project Gotham Racing 2.
Truth: This is the most publicity Matt Cavanagh has gotten in years.
There are no lies here, because we don't publish those. We leave that to the rest of the Internet and sleep well knowing it is one area that is completely over-covered.

Maybe it's just that toiling under Activision's cruel work conditions made the whole experience... a blur...
Why yes, it is 4 AM in the morning, why do you ask?

I think the gaming media desperately wants to create gaming personalities and celebrities. It was possible in the old days when a few guys or one person could create a game. Today's game require too many people for a gaming personality to define a style. Even the celebrity developers like Wil Wright and Miyamoto are really just figureheads now. Even defining a style to development studios is dumb with the rapid turnover. Is there anybody left at Rare from the SNES days that Rare is worth talking about?

Truth: Matt Cavanagh is an alien super-being taking his century long break on Earth to giggle at us primitives. And after hacking his name out of the Credits for Blur, and replacing it with a bunch of random people in his workplace, is now doing more random things.

Yeah, but its pretty hush-hush! I have to send it out through underground snail-mail, since the government scans and reads all regular mail and emails!
But hey, someone's gotta get the truth out there! Like how George Lucas actually had a twin named Bob Lucas, but after Bob made a little movie called "Star Wars", Georgy took Bob out for "Fishing"...

What a bizarre tweet. I'm glad he had the active-vision to post about the blurred truth of his previous employment.

That's a shame, because Blur is actually not bad-- just released at the wrong time.

I really wish they made a sequel to blur it was an amazing racing game just need some more polishing and it would of been solid. The game sold well consider that two other racing games came out in the same time.

I first thought of *Terry* Cavanagh, of VVVVVV fame, but this is good, too... I guess.
In the past year(s), there have been approximately a billion new indie studios formed out of layoffs. I'm really looking forward to the next few years when the fruits of their labors are finalized, and we get a huge influx of indie titles. I think we're in for a revolution of sorts in the indie gamespace, and I for one am stoked.
