so exactly how does unreal technology work? is there an option that automatically lays down brown and grey rubble randomly to make up levels?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding!

@eat it

I actually think that the color picker has a built-in feature that gives all pickable colors a deep brown tint.

That was made by the Xcom people? Oh dear. Bad music and tired looking game-play in a half shell.

iOS game? Immediately turned off. I really can't stand touch screen games on a cell phone unless they have the bare minimum of controls. That other iOS game game from Epic wasn't too bad but it got boring super quick. Maybe someone will figure out the right way to do it that will be cool to me.

Exactly how difficult is it to start up a studio these days? Seems like it happens every week.

See, games like this look cool until you realize that in no way can this be a fully controllable game on a phone with 1 button. I don't understand why these studios don't at the very least develop simultaneously for iOS and the 3DS and/or the PSP.

Looks cool? It looks like one of those vacuous Playstation 1 titles that didn't stretch beyond the basics of run+hide and gun. Game-play wise it reminds of a title I used to play on that console involving an army guy who had to get through a forest full of bad dudes.

not bad... visually. Now let's see if they can manage a non-crappy control scheme.

Looks cool to me. Considering it's a cheap iOS game, I'm definitely game for it.

Former XCOM leads want bigger chunk of the profit, move to form mobile game studio.

@Anticrawl

This isn't criticism mind you, just the current trend of things. So many big name developers regarded as "leading industry talents" have moved to social and mobile gaming for likely that reason. Or perhaps said area of the industry allows for more open creativity due to lower risks.

Looks like it will be fun, reminds me a lot of the Matrix scene in Conker's Bad Fur Day. Though it could also get fairly repetitive if they don't have good mechanics progress in place.

I'm not too worried about the fate of X-com, from the E3 interviews they drastically re-designed the game over the last year to be less of a run and gun shooter and more Brothers in Arms. I'm guessing this lead designer didn't agree with that transition and left to go make his pure action game.
