Anyone who played the first Deus Ex; is it worth me going back and grabbing a copy of it on ebay, is it really that good? I saw it got some good scores at the time.

@YoungCardinals

I played the first game because I was interested in HR.

Best. Choice. Ever.

It is truly an amazing game. The amount of choice and conspiracy is just overwhelming - and the ending...oh the ending.

Good sir, if you play the first Deus Ex (I advise playing it on PC), you will not regret it one bit, especially if you enjoy story-heavy games.

i bought it on steam a while ago and never finished the first level cuz im a younger gamer and though the graphics dont bother me i often forget to do my own saving having been spoiled by more modern games.

If you do get it just think about that kinda stuff cuz its a pain to lose your progress just cuz you forgot to save.
Im sure its a great game though and plan on finishing it up one of these days.
The first games have near nothing to do with this new one though.

@YoungCardinals The first Deus Ex was a fantastic game. Definitely one of my favorite PC games of all time. I'm not sure how the graphics have held up after all this time, but I'd recommend playing through it just so you have a source to reflect on while playing the new game. This game is sort of prequel to the original.

@BellTollsForThee There is a quick save button (+ by default) that you can map to anything on the keyboard.

It is ugly as sin, but there must be something special about it.

I'm having some issues getting it to run on the PC partition of my iMac. Probably a video card driver thing I haven't gotten around to fixing.

Picked up the original during the amazing Steam sale ($2.50!) and I have to say I'm loving every minute of it. It's been over 10 years since the game's release and it puts most games made in 2011 to shame.

Seriously. You need to play this game. I haven't had such an engrossing video game experience since Half-Life 2.

@kentuckyfried what issues are you having is it the characters moving at superspeed like on fast forward?If it is there is a download that fixes that problem unfortunately I forget the site that does it.

Yeah I had the super speed problem on my laptop. I didn't bother googling for a fix. Never finished it but I thought the conspiracy stuff was good in 2000 but it seemed silly now.

Kentie.net has a fix with its own launcher, if that's the one you were thinking of. (Always make sure to scan files like that of course) I got Deus Ex off the Steam Sale and used the fix after having experienced the speed issue and it works fine now, thank goodness. Though I did have trouble with a "Steam not found" error for a bit. -.-

Aw man...his voice sounds exactly the same. Anyone who played the first game will know who I'm talking about! Gah! I'm excited.

I will go ahead and take my hat off to this game in advance.

Yes, I noticed that too!

Awesome they got Cliff Stephens to come back and do the voice of Bob Page.

I wonder if they tried to get Tom Hall to come back and do Walton Simons. Of course, he may not even be in the game.

Just from playing the preview of Human Revolution I can say it's one of the best games I've played this generation. By far the best western RPG and even as a shooter/action game it is incredible.

@Anticrawl

a lot of people keep putting up Skyrim, Bioshock and other for GOTY, but not a lot of mention of Human Revolution. not sure why; this looks just as deserving to me. i'm extremely excited for it.

Because those are the media hot tickets honestly. They have the most advertisement funds backing them, they can afford to court every member of the press and setup online/offline play-test dates with bloggers.

I see Squeenix apprehensively approaching Human Revolution, enough of a budget to be a success but not enough to purchase the tongues of the internet. It is more than just a possibility as GOTY for me, it is a heavyweight contender!

The trailers for this game have been epic! Kudos to Eidos's and Square Enix's marketing teams for making such great trailers.

Needless to say, this game is on my must have list. Can't wait till August 23rd!

Seriously Jonesin for this game! Playing Mass Effect2 right now, but if I'm not done with that before this comes out, it may get put on the pile-o-games in favour of this game.

Used to be heavy into FPS's, but the past few years have sure seen a huge increase in third-person SP games, with good stories... Can't wait for the end of August to get here!

Anyone else worried about the graphics quality in this trailer. Earlier trailers had awesome rendering quality. This one looks like its was made for a PS2 or sth.

@redserpent7

What?????

The preview I played was incredible looking. The only thing that was lacking visually was the cutscenes. In-game stuff generally looked better, but I'd imagine that was due to cutscenes being the last thing added in a game typically, the ones I saw were highly compressed.

It was drop dead gorgeous and nearly every object worth-while is intractable. It is truly a living breathing world. Your actions (not just a choose your adventure novel like Mass Effect) shape the world around you.

@Anticrawl thats what I noticed while watching a couple of gameplay vids. I mean the cinematic cut-scenes compared to those shown in early trailers, like the 2010 E3 trailer, are horrible. And some of the scenes in this video were also present in early trailers and looked far better than this.

Tear up every time I watch these trailers. Its been a long time waiting. Let the conspiracy run like rain on a Seattle day. Edios Montreal you have reminded me why I love your franchise. For those who are new to the franchise; I strongly recommend you try out the first Deus Ex; extremely well made game. No words can describe how much I want this game right now. If you excuse me I got a dragon sword to recover.
