I don't get it. Why can't people just import it? Not hard or that expensive to import these days. It is in English. Will the British version be too hard to understand because they misspell stuff?

This and the Earthbound Mother 3 thing. There are translations out for the game. Why do you need a release? Do people just enjoy the community of people working for a goal even if it doesn't really accomplish much?

@FriedConsole Not hard or expensive? Not everyone has the money to throw around to get a new EU Wii specifically for a few games, and no everyone knows how to mod their Wii to play imported games, let along know where to get these imported games.

And why should consumers in the first place be forced to do steps like this when a game like this should be in NA to begin with?

Unless you're telling people to just flat out pirate the game then..I agree with you. Those in NA at least.

The main reason is because the Wii is region locked. You can modify your (early model) Wii to accept foreign software, but then those modifications will go away as soon as you do a system update, and newer software requires a system update to run. It's a great big hassle for three games that, honestly, Nintendo should be bringing over anyway. Or at least letting Aksys, XSEED, or Atlus bring over.

@Mike Kelehan You can block disc and online updates through the program-that-shall-not-be-named, thus getting rid of the nagging update reminders; after that you can make Gamecube and Wii games 100% region free. That's what I did.

Nintendo of Europe is practically saying "Hey guess what NoA, just because we can we are gonna release these games earlier, AND sell them to the people you should be supporting!"

Oh well, everyone knows Reggie Fils-aime is an idiot, this just really proves it.

While I'm not particularly a fan, I'm pretty sure that without Reggie, Nintento would be in a pretty dismal situation right about now.

See here is the thing, They want to win back the "core gamers" at least that seems to be their mantra.

By not releasing this in the game all they are going to be doing is letting down the "core gamers"

By releasing the game for the Wii U instead of the Wii (which I get the feeling could be in the mix) they would essentially be giving the middle finger to any "core gamer" that supported the Wii. Further alienating them.... Holding out for a Twilight Princess esq dual release is about as bad.

I seem to remember the complaints about the Wii version primarily being that it looked like a GameCube game .... BECAUSE IT WAS.... I suspect the Wii U will be reverse compatible with the Wii so simply releasing a Wii game on the Wii covers both bases....

By releasing it and not being jerks about it "no plans" and other generic corporate non answers, they might not make a killing but what it is going to do is win them some cred with these "core gamers" they keep blathering on about and screwing over at the same time....

Sorry I periodically need to vent .... primarily when I am reminded about how NOA is jerking us around.

Wait, wtf - you think they're going to release this for Wii U and not Wii? When they could do a Wii release for the cost of, er, nothing (since it's already been localised in EU) but a Wii U release would require making better textures/models for everything and recoding to support the new controller, different CPU, and whatever else?

Until there's solid evidence to the contrary, I think expecting that Nintendo's JRPG release record will be any better on Wii U than it is on Wii is nothing more than wishful thinking...

It's too bad this isn't coming to NA. I'd have a reason to turn on my Wii. Once I clean the dust off it anyway. This and The Last Story.

Another Code R
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Fatal Frame IV
Pandora's Tower
Pikmin 2: New Play Control
The Last Story
Xenoblade

1. If the Wii U turns out to be Region Free (doubtful), I will buy it.
2. I will wait a year or two to see how NOA treats gamers. If they release the games I want, I will buy the Wii U.
3. I will wait a year or two to see how NOA treats gamers. If they "stay the course" that they're presently on, they can shove the Wii U up their ***.

To everyone wanting to import the three games which NOA screwed us over with; hack the Wii, install the program(s) that do the following - block both disc and online updates, make all LEGALLY purchased gamecube/wii games region free (100% compatibility last I checked), and makes it so no one can remove said hacks. Problem solved. If NOA doesn't like people "illegally" modifying their consoles, then should hire competent people and release them in the US.

Yeah, it does. But honestly I just did the wiki how to guide. No idea what I'm doing technically. I'm just following the masses in the attempt to play this game.

@(Unverified) It can be a bit daunting at first, but as long as you install the program the prevents firmware bricking, then you can install the one the disables region locking and updates from Nintendo. I won't name any program names here; the second I do that, NOA will send their goons after me (not really).

I don't care what Nintendo wants, I'm modding my console and importing the hell out of this. Region restricted gaming is bullshit, if I want to play a game from another country, I'm going to do it, especially if you aren't willing to make a version for the region I'm in.

@TheStickFullofJoy

You don't have to mod the Wii, I've seen several sites with footage of the game running on a Wii-Emulator, the plus side of which is that its running in HD. Now don't ask me why the game would be in HD, I'm not all that tech savy to know how the emulator does it, but there is videos of at least Xenoblade running.

Hell of a lot cheaper too. And well... its not piracy if it doesn't exist for us. They aren't losing sales, and you get the game, win-win.
