Why is there Bioshock info in the sidebar?

@YimYimYimi

The House of Upside Down is a Bioshock 2 location, and the fictional book here is written by a Bioshock character.

I like what one of the comments on the link said...These would make great kindle covers.
or, expanding on that thought, an iPad cover.

@Epoque

if you want to get paid to play games, why not just become a reviewer? shit, talk to these cats on Joystiq. who knows? maybe they need another hand.

Hm. What's the "In Limbo" one?

The Green Influenza one is L4D, right? And..."The Wonderful End of the World"; isn't that the name of that Katamari ripoff that was part of the Potato Pack?

@Kirkpad Yes it does; Both games have similar gameplay elements, so lumping them together is a clever relationship reference.

@(Unverified) I wouldn't say it's "stealing", because the Olly Moss illustrations are never presented as book covers. If anything, it's an expansion on Olly Moss' idea.

There's like one I really didn't get and another that I felt I SHOULD have got. The feeling everyone's been talking about something yet I never paid any attention to it.

All the others are fine but they seem more like Study Guides than actual novel covers.

The hell? He did them all very well and had good author names except for the Katamari one. The name is the game which ripped it off, and the author is just some french guy. The other covers had authors which related to the work much more closely than that.

Seeing that, it becomes apparent that the guy just whipped these up to get portfolio attention.

That's the smartest reference of them all! Kids today. Read a book.

Some French guy... I could kill him just because the sun's in my eyes.

That Limbo one is excellent. The dry brush strokes (and wet ink blot eyes) perfectly capture the mood of the game.

Definitely not the first games-as-book-covers project (I've still got a bunch saved from the NeoGaf forum), but slightly more artsy because of the new titles. Love 'em.

If anyone is interested I'm personally working with the artist (shes just as wonderful in real life as her art is here on the internet). We're part of a small team of UK graduates developing an indie point-and-click adventure game for Android so if any of that tickles your fancy check out our team's facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/jamhillentertainment cheers :)

@broken 4th wall As in United Kingdom. We're from a variety of british institutions. Our artists all hail from The University of Derby while our writer and programmers are from the Cambridge area. You from Kentucky?

First off - they look nice.
Secondly. They're not book covers, or even fake covers. No books in my library, nor any of my "digital" books or the ones I'm seeing on Amazon's storefront have similar looking covers. Probably by some design student who wanted to create something different.

Let me guess, you buy all your books of the new, revised versions? Well, my pampered friend, books ranging from the 1950s to the 1970s had generic covers thanks to the publishers.

Book covers can look like whatever they want. There are no rules for that. And just because you personally haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
