Mark Turmell, EA Tiburon's senior creative director and the creator of NBA Jam, has allegedly left Electronic Arts for Zynga. Kotaku confirmed with EA that Turmell left the publisher, with a company spokesperson saying, "We appreciate Mark's contribution to Tiburon and EA Sports and wish him well in future endeavors."
Turmell's departure adds some questions to the rumored return of NFL Blitz, allegedly being developed at EA Tiburon. Turmell co-created the original NFL Blitz while at Midway.
If Turmell does end up at Zynga, he adds his name to a list that includes former EA COO John Schappert, developer Brian Reynolds and many, many other individuals and studios.

Does anyone get the feeling that Zynga is probably overpaying to get guys to move because they've got huge cash flow? Don't get me wrong, we know Zynga is a beast in the online space for better or worse, but this strikes me as people getting offers to good to ignore rather than moving because its a logical change

I could go for a visually updated, physics-heavy Blitz that isn't Backbreaker.

Zynga is an utter cesspool. I can't wait until their 15 minutes of fame are up.
I usually don't pray for a developer's demise, but Zynga is shady as hell. Not only that, but their games are junk that deserve to be eliminated.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rovio and Zynga merged or Zynga acquired Rovio. These two are the same type of money-making, overconfident trash

Just wait for EA to buy Zynga and all of them will go, "Aw man!"

@Theneverendingsoda So you still don't get that this is a business? Outside of a vanishingly few creative types over the years that buck the trend the entire industry (see that word?) of making games has always just been business.
That's not to say one can't find creative fulfillment at work ,but dude come on for every madman like Jenonva Chen making The Journey there are 10,000 dudes who show up to work hard and try to make a living at entertaining you.
If Shigeru Miyamoto thinks it's entertainment not art why exactly can't a guy move to a more lucrative job entertaining other people?
