Newegg still has it for the 26th. Seems strange that nothing would be mentioned. Shane is pretty good about keeping press in the loop.

GameFly too. Was literally just on there going, "huh, guess they changed it."

I'm not sure if it's coincidental or not, but they sent out this tweet on @ElShaddaiGame:

This game is gonna get lost in the shuffle, the publisher should have renamed the title of the game, it may have helped it some.

@type2red In the shuffle? If that means it's going against other games I think the only one is Deus Ex...

@Revengez
It stands a greater chance against Catherine than Deus Ex

I dunno.. I've spoken to plenty of people who've at least heard of Catherine, but none of 'em had a clue what I was talking about when I mentioned El Shaddai..
But that's just me.

@Cleric I don't think that's true. Both Catherine and El Shaddai are very Japanese games. The people interested in them (me, for example) generally aren't as interested in games like Deus Ex. It's a much easier decision, at the very least.

@type2red

Yeah, it should have gotten renamed.....I got that damn Amy Grant song stuck in my head as a result.

@SuperStition Really? People around here have never heard about El Shaddai or Catherine, but then again, no one ever buys niche Japanese titles in general around here. A nice score for me since the local GS then has special editions of Japanese games for months.:D

I think this has everything to do with Catherine dropping the same day. Though they are very different games, they are going to have a strikingly similar appeal to Japanophiles, who are probably interested in both. I know, we can smell our own. Add to the fact that Atlas carries a little more weight as a publisher, and the fact that they released a demo which apparently was a "bad demo" (not representative of the game really with no instruction on the correct way to use the [pretty rad] combat), and this seems like a wise decision. There's no universe in which I would feel comfortable dropping $120 on 2 niche japanese games same day, but spread them out a few weeks, and that might be just enough time for me to fool myself into doing just that.

Also, even the standard version of Catherine comes with some pretty cool extras, so if I was to choose one to buy on the 26th, it would be an easy choice.

Did they ever fix the HORRIBLE gameplay?

@DesmondMiles

Having played more then a demo, the gameplay is far from HORRIBLE.
This mindset is the same reason bigger developers believe they can milk our wallets and smaller developers have to shut down , also this game is getting great early reviews, so your lost.

The complex combat system must have frustrated you, most enemies can only be defeated by their own weapon, so take it.

How about a $39.99 MSRP drop to go along with the delay like The Cursed Crusade. I'd buy it for $40.

I'll gladly wait. It was going to be my birthday present since it was coming out two days after that originally, but honestly waiting is fine too!

@OrangeGamer

Seems we share the same b-day. ;) Catherine is going to be my present to myself, and I agree w/ the consensus that it is the reason for this delay. Both games are targeted at the same niche audience.

@ArgyleMonkey Awesome! *same b-day high five*

I'd probably get Catherine if I wasn't such a wuss for any horror elements in games. That and if I didn't suck at puzzlers.D:

Good grief, who do these companies hire for marketing? What idiots. July is a bone dry month for releases. It's the perfect time to get your game out. But no, let's push it to August right around Deus Ex time.

Oh yea, let's push those HD remakes out the same time as big AAA titles in Sept and Oct. This really pisses me off. I would buy Splinter Cell HD quickly in July, but it has been pushed to September now! I'll be too busy with new releases to care about replaying old series.
