This is either the dumbest thing I've ever seen or 2011's spiritual equivalent of Portal. I'm voting on the the latter.

As mentioned in the comment section of RPS and in The Final Hours of Portal 2, Valve experimented with using mechanics very similar to this for Portal 2 but decided against it in th end. This apparently played a part in causing Kim Swift(one of the original developers of Narbacular Drop, and the key propagator of the time manipulation concept) leaving Valve.

Not to say it still couldn't potentially make a fun if challenging game. Judging from commentaries Valve seem to playtest their games to hell and back in an attempt to ensure the widest demographic possible would be able to play and finish their titles. It's both a blessing and a curse.

Nope, F-STOP was mentioned separately and never elaborated upon.

It looks like it has a lot of interesting concepts, although it is peculiar that none of the capabilities of the player were actually necessary to progress through the level. Congrats on creating three separate jumping paths for no reason and freezing blocks in mid-air leading to nowhere... Let us up that this evolves a lot.

Also, the hand placement is a bit bizarre.

Yeah I have no idea why the person did anything they did when the exit was completely given to them. I have a) no idea what was going on or b) that was a waste of time few levels.

@(Unverified) It is a demo/concept, the purpose of the video was not to play and complete it, it was to show the game and what sort of things you could do with it.

Don't you love it when you have ideas like this, residing in your mind for a while, only to read articles that resemble said idea? Hope my own concepts won't become obsolete...I need to exhibit these somehow...very soon.

With this, Recall sounds incredible.

By the way, you guys think this is the real Quaid? Yep, sure is.

I really like the concept; the potential is there. However, the execution, at least in this demo, felt like a dull snoozer to me.

Uh?

Looks kinda cool, I guess; it's such an early state that It's not really doin' much.

Actually, this reminds me to catch up on how Achron's doing.

Wow, very mind-boggling man. That could be used in so many ways; I can't even imagine how any FPS game would play w/ this kind of mechanic besides a Portal-esque kind of a game.

Umm... I don't really get what the player did. Was anything that was done necessary for progressing through the level?

( sorry to rag on an obviously incomplete game - I just couldn't resist )

Hmm, the concept vaguely reminds me of the Clank puzzles in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, though more expanded upon I suppose. They ended up pretty fun, so if it's anything like that, I wouldn't mind giving this game a shot.

Did my last comment not go up?? I was saying how much this reminded me of the game VisionBall for the iPad. Looks strangely familiar. Does anyone else agree?

Never really have gotten into these time puzzle games ..... but it does look interesting.

I know a lot of people have mentioned that just about everything they do in this demo is pointless .... and it is, but I rather think its more of a proof of concept (hey look what it can do) than it is an actual finished level.

For instance the falling blocks are totally pointless as they are now but imagine there was a puzzle where you had to get across a gap. Toppling over a tall stack of whatever, freezing time and then traversing said gap could easily be the answer to that particular conundrum. Or say you needed to climb to a ledge, freezing time at just the right time turns that falling pile of junk into a staircase.

Still not sold on chronopuzzles (I blame braid) but ..... like I said, looks interesting

Interesting, Probelm is with these sort of games, The execution as to be brillant you have to have enough restriction but make them logical.

Its needs testing testing and more testing, anyone whos listened to Valve commentary would know.
