Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 lands in November; adds Strider, Ghost Rider [update: characters leaked]

We realize it's kind of rare for Capcom to release an updated version of one of its fighting games, but try to bear with us. The publisher has announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which adds a number of improvements to the original. First and foremost, of course, is a load of new characters, twelve in all.

The press release mentions Capcom's Strider and Firebrand from Ghosts & Goblins (this guy). Entering the Marvel camp are Ghost Rider and Hawkeye. We're sure that the others will be slowly and methodically revealed over the next few months.

Ultimate MvC3 will also have eight new stages, a spectator mode and unnamed balance tweaks. The game is set to be released this November at a "mid range price" on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Because of stuff like this, I never have or plan on buying any Capcom games.

I think Capcom's flailing missions lately have just turned me off to anything they annouce, good or bad.

I'm just tired. I don't expect to touch this for a year or so. But I'm in the crowd that is happy not to have purchased the first game.

More amazing fighters to come!.... when you buy the DLC in 2 weeks.... and when you buy Super Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom in 3 months.... and when you buy Super Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Turbo in 6 months....

Damn. Getting screwed by capcom again. Now I need to sell my limited edition mvc3. Damn capcom I hate you. It would have been fine if they are releasing it a good 1.5-2yrs after the original release. From now on I'll just buy the "This is truly the last version" edition of their games.

And with this announcement, I get my copy from the dust it's collected in the closet and send it off to Amazon for some money.

I waited a long time for the 3rd game and was really pumped, then there was nothing to do in it except get destroyed online (which didn't work half the time). I'll consider this 'Ultimate' edition if they add Mega Man and make something more for the single player experience.

Ok now I feel stupid for purchasing the collectors edition now. Time to sell it. SERIOUSLY couldn't they have patched the current version!!! LAME!

Was just seeing those, too. So cool. More DMC and I hate that PW made it in, but still an amazing roster.

I just picked up MvC3 this week for $30 @ Best Buy and I don't plan on playing online, so I don't feel too bad about this announcement...yet

Decision to not buy and wait for the inevitable "super" version: VALIDATED

Normally I'd be pretty excited about something like this, but I noticed a few curious things. 1: Why did Ryu's Shinku Hadouken look..different? 2. What was that dive attack that Spencer used that he could combo off of?

I don't have a problem with making an updated version of previous games, but don't CHANGE the game. I can understand balancing issues since that happens pretty often but not even Super Street Fighter IV CHANGED anything, it only ADDED features (Replay, Secondary Ultra Combos, etc.) It didn't take away or add a move to a character's move set. Just seeing those things has me incredibly skeptical.

Even it's an updated version they aren't going to include the DLC characters? That's total bullcrap!

from this day, I won't buy any Capcom games new, only used.

I'll pass, waiting for the arcade edition...

Well, no more Capcom fighting games for me. Sure, I bought my copy of MvC3 for $15 because I had a shit ton of coupons, but I could have gotten a different game for $15 that I wouldn't have to buy again for twice the price.

I am disappoint.

I hope this isn't Capcom's new way to get repeated sales out of fighters. There has always been an issue getting repeated sales from fighters (It's why they died in the 00's) but I thought DLC would be the new model not this "buy a new game when we're really done with it" model.

New characters, new combos, new ways to be defeated.
