Shouldn't this be free yet?

@FiXxXeRJL You would think, but woe is me, greedy microsoft.

I find it HILARIOUS that you pay your ISP AND your Live subscription.

And that is why I am, and wil forever be, a PC gamer.

It means people are buying more stuff. Microsoft's cut is the same as Sonys on all online purchases, so I don't know what you're trying to say.

You get what you pay for. I'll gladly pay for the premium service I get from Live. I have a ps3 as well and it's service is shitty at best. Maybe next time around Sony won't f it up so bad.

..Especially since we dont have to update our consoles 3 times a month, Have to worry about Personal Information Leaks, get tons of exclusive content, and services.

i hope you all know Maxxgold is a know troll and he does in fact NOT own a PS3... PSN is not "shitty" at best, its good but not perfect. Live's subscription price is up to the INDIVIDUAL to see if it is worth it or not, and majority seem to think it is worth it.

so please cut the fanboy bullshit. aren't we all past this already... (no)

Your a pc fanboy trolling on an Xbox article on the Xbox section of joystiq and you asking me about commonsense? Poor of us Xbox users paying 5 bucks a month oh how would we survive?!?! I know I'll save money by spending a 1000 bucks on a gaming pc. I'll still have to pay for ISP and I will miss out on titles that don't make it to my pc. YAY PC is best!!

Xbox Live makes some sense, many PC titles require a subscription so that the servers can be maintained. The multiplayer on Xbox is more casual so you probably couldn't maintain it with publicly-run dedicated servers.

Before you all start throwing tomatoes and beating up the PC with sticks, I'd like to point out that not everyone who plays it is an arrogant, trolling creature of self-justifications. It's true, I prefer playing on my PC than consoles, but luckily people have subjective opinions & tastes, and the freedom to pursue them; so this doesn't mean that I'm automatically at war with everyone who plays Xbox.

In a debate, if you fight fire with fire, you're moshing out to a Metallica song and therefore are probably not being very constructive.

And I was hoping this would be the last generation Microsoft dabbled in the home console market.

Oh well, they will find a way to shoot themselves in the foot eventually.

Im not hating, only stating the truth. my 2 friends that own a PS3 are always complaining about updates that you have to do every month, and that it takes so long to do them on high-speed. They also (like everyone else) hated the massive leak of personal information. Sony is average to me. I prefer my Xbox360 more because of the Genres on it. I love my party chat, I love how Microsoft Innovates on their service. you have to admit, We are treated pretty well.

@FiXxXeRJL I still dont think it should be free. I think the small fee insures my right to expect a quality service. It needs some improvement but since i pay for it I expect the improvements to keep coming. I also firmly believe if you pay for your account you will respect it more than someone who has unlimited free accounts that do the same thing. You are less likely to be a jerk and get banned if you care about your account that you've potentially invested hundreds of dollars in just in the subscription fees, not counting all of the DLC thats tied to that account/console. We all know that console wont last forever so its something to consider before getting banned.

P2P online is not a premium service.

People pay for Live Gold because they have no other choice if they want to play online with their Xboxs.

Your friends don't seem to know what they're talking about. I agree, the PSN was a major inconvenience, and more than a little upsetting when it came to the leak of customers' personal data. I also agree that XBL is a robust, competitive platform, and that PSN is still a few steps behind. However, I don't think PSN is nearly as inferior as many 360 owners make it out to be. As for genres, I won't discredit the gems you'll find on XBLA, but I personally think that the PS3 has more diversity in its game portfolio.

Honestly, Im never arguing Game profile... I have my own Philosophy for that.

"Where The PS3 beats 360 at the amount of Retail Exclusives, the 360 Beats PS3 in terms of Marketplace Exclusives" Which incase anyone doesn't feel like admitting. The Xbox 360 has LOADS of exclusive downloadable games, and content that more than makes up for the lack of retail exclusives. XBLA is an amazing service, same as XBL:IG. I love how I can download many 4-7+ Hour games from XBL for prices lower than $15.

By March 2011 15 million ipads had been sold world wide.
By comparison the xbox 360 has sold 55 million as of June 3, 2011 worldwide.

When there is over 50million + of a device in the world, 1.3 million sales is a solid amount.
Not to mention if you want to go into high figures, the Kinect sold over 8 million in 60 days.

Actually, it isn't illegal unless you're legitimately attempting to replicate real money (or so I've heard; I'm no legal expert). As no U.S. bill currently contains the Xbox symbol, you're entirely free to give it a shot.
