Pre ordered my game this morning through Amazon.
Also, every preorder (regardless of where you buy) grants you a code for the Color Stone and early access.

@Rhamsey question, do you also get the code if you go to GameStop and preorder it as opposed to preordering it online?

Let me know when that absurdly priced Collectors edition comes with a lifetime subscription, then we'll talk Bioware.

$150 is expensive, but it isn't that bad when you consider that Gentle Giant statues retail for around $60. If you figure $60 for the game, $60 for the statue, then $30 for the art book, music CD, security key, collectors case, and all the in-game items, and its not that bad a deal. It may not be cheap, but it's not exactly a rip off, either

It's only absurd if nobody would pay it willingly. Since this is Star Wars and Bioware, I think there are plenty who would shell that much in an instant, and they are expectantly taking advantage of that.

@Haggard

Actually for people in the beta, its a 100+ gigs of download. The reason why is because every single NPC has a voice in the game, so its making the game bigger than normal.

They're really going for Moore's law of exponential growth here then. I too spat all over my desk when I read Mass Effect was 10GB. Then ME2 was 15, now 30-100..

Do I buy a HDD because things are getting ridiculously massive or an SSD because I'm a glutton for required upgrade punishment?

While that price does make me cringe, you can't ignore the fact that the statue is probably valued at $60-$75 (based on other similar type of statues).

Assuming I'm not completely wrong with the above estimate, $150 sounds about right. Blizzard's CE's are usually around $80 with close to the same amount of items minus the statue. Add those together and BAM, $140-$155 estimated price tag.

Of course, they prob bought a bazzillion statues, got them for $0.50 each and will charge us the full price to include it :P

That and I'm just trying to convince myself its worth buying. God I want this.

@Tyran Yeah, but the statue is stupid. WTF is with all these statues in collectors editions? At least the wow CE's have stuff you might actually put to use... a mousepad and an art book. I'd rather have an $80 CE without the lame statue (and no the digital deluxe doesn't cut it).

I can understand how most probably don't care about the statue as I usually don't for other games. I for one think its awesome, but I'm also a giant SW geek (if you can't tell by my avatar). This statue would look nice along all my other SW memorabilia.

Pre-ordering from Origin nets you this lovely little message:

Pre-order request received

'Thank you for submitting your request for a Star Wars: The Old Republic pre-order. Your request will be processed in the order it was received, while quantities last. An e-mail will be sent within 48 hours to let you know if your request was successful. If your request was successful your credit card will be charged for the pre-order. Your card will be charged for the price of the edition you ordered when the product is released.

BASED ON YOUR ESTIMATES, YOU ARE LIKELY TO RECEIVE YOUR PRE-ORDER.

Your order submission number is __.
An email with this information has been sent to __.
You will receive another email when your order has been processed.'

The part in all capitals is what confuses me. Why should there be a chance of running out of product if it's digital? Isn't that the entire purpose of pre-ordering something on a d2d service?

I'd drop $150 on a collectors edition for mass effect... but definitely not this. The 'deluxe digital' is crap too... $20 more for stuff that does nothing. I want to know what this collector's edition vendor sells. They could be stepping on a lot of toes if it is ANYTHING that will benefit them more than vanity items.
