It looks as if they tried to take Nathan Drake and give him super powers...and failed miserably.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power

I would imagine if the main character had the power of the "half-tuck" this game would be 10x better.

I'm amazed this game doesn't bust into a "Just Dance" mode with the amount of generic clichés I'm seeing here.

Is there any reason not to take Wolverine's healing factor every time, no matter what other choices you make?

Unsurprisingly this game is sounding like a major piece of shit, as nothing seems to have gotten through his thick skull about all the major failings of "Too Human: Not Humane enough to put you out of your misery". Actually, he learned One thing it seems. Combat with the right analog stick is just plain F@#$ing stupid.

Combat is just as dull it sounds like, I'm sure the character conversations will be just as bad. Characters themselves sound... well... nothing really. There doesn't seem to be much of a reason to have "Three unique characters" other than some failed attempt at "diversity in the story" which hints heavily at a shit-tastic main overal story.

And that leaves powers... F$%@ your power system... why the hell should I be restricted to acting like an X-men just to get access to Wolverine?

Its obvious if I want any real diversity and choice in my characters powers, I'm better off playing City of Heroes or Champion Online and well... funny enough those games offer the same exact stuff, and for free almost at that. Probably be better too...

@DevilSei Why are you being such a hater right now? If the game isn't for you , then it isn't for you, but there's no reason to tear down silicon knights in the process. Yeah, too human's control scheme was weird, but they tried to do something new, which is more than you can say about yourself, I'm sure.
Yeah, the x-men game isn't a triple a, and no, I probably won't buy it at full price. Silicon knights is dong what they need to survive, and here you are, shitting all over them. you should be ashamed.

i, for one, am glad silicon knights is still around. I think that they still have one GOOD game left up their sleeves, but they need the money to risk the development. If you hate on them for that, then you are just an @$$hole.

I was actually interested in this game, and I wasn't letting Too Human's failings bog that down. I'm a fan of the X-men, and to play a game where you get to combine and collect their powers, among others, was interesting to me.
But to restrict powers to what path you take, instead of letting you just collect them, or unlock them as you "level up", is stupid. I'm fine and dandy with maybe some light enhancements from either side, or some cosmetic effects, but that's it. We shouldn't be forced down a path we dont want to go through, just to grab something.

And as for their combat system in TH, sorry to tell you but its not new, and has been done in MULTIPLE games before, and better at that.

And yes, they do probably have at least one good game left in them, but sorry to say its not this. Their only real claim to fame is Eternal Darkness, and they have had multiple chances to continue with it.

I have mixed feelings about Silicon Knights. Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games. This lead me to put a lot of faith in SK while Too Human was in development. This in turn led me to really advocate for folks to have an open mind about the game. Then Denis Dyack started behaving badly on game forums. Despite this I stuck by SK because I knew they would deliver on promises made with Too Human. Then the game released and it was my first disk/retail title this gen. I knew I would love it. I was wrong. The game, for me, was just meh. Not all bad, not all good but completely disappointing.

What I want from SK and Mr. Dyack, more than anything else, is to be won back with a game as creative, courageous and fun as Eternal Darkness. Right now it appears that this Xmen game is not going to be the one to win me back.

@Sylvrfonic did you finish Too Human? I was put off during the first two "worlds," but by the third world I understood how to fight, and stopped dying all the time. Plus the story started making sense. by the final world, I was white knuckle and blown away by how fun it was.

(my theory is people who hate that game - gave up before they figured how to use the fighting system properly. once you get into it, it's all about diving in,out and around the group of baddies, attacking and evading, to build up your special powers attacks. really intense.).

I can get behind saying the game failed to tell you how to play it. but not that it was ultimately a bad innovation in gameplay.

@WarrenEBB I did finish it. Thankfully I loved the setting. The world that the game was set in kept me coming back despite the fact that the story was, to me, kind of bland. I even liked most of the characters. Sadly, I did not care at all for SK's depiction of Baldr.

It was the level of frustration that I felt towards the combat as I was going through the story. It was not really until near the end of the story that I finally go a handle on it. By that time I was soured on the game. I played online coop for a bit after I finished the story (to help a buddy that was prone to rage quitting the game but wanted to finish it because he also liked the setting). I got the combat and appreciated the innovations but there was nothing more to discover. I'd always imagined that SK would make DLC, support the title, give me a reason to return to the awesome setting. That hope didn't work out so well for me.

Thank you for summing up my feelings regarding the game. Too Human gets too much hate for simply being what it sold itself as: A 3rd person cyberpunk Norse Mythology RPG. Nowhere in that description do I see a prescribed requirement for a "X and A to attack, B to jump" -style control set. People really shouldn't say the words "Disappointed by Too Human." because disappointment requires expectations, and the neither the game nor the advertisement established any sort of expectations to fail meeting. As it is, they *should* be saying that Too Human didn't educate them properly on how to play the game, or that Too Human's gameplay didn't warrant it's control setup deviating so far from a traditional 3rd person action title. I'm not one of those guys who stands behind a ton of games, but I really honestly enjoyed Too Human for what it was.

@Uniform solidState Messenger I would say the 'hate' comes rather as they went a long way to piss off people without delivering something that would blow people away.

While the achievements are there, the graphics are also borderline painful, while the plot is in the end fine, a lot of the dialogue is plain bad and while the fight system is a matter of taste, it suffers from camera issues, glitches and ridiculous 'load' times after you died.

To be honest, for me it falls into a group with Duke Nukem Forever, Lair, Viking or James Bond: Bloodstone as games that I personally got enjoyment from for one reason or another but couldn't recommend to everybody.

Thinking about it, it shared with Duke Nukem that it was in development for quite a while but was released completely unpolished.

would have been better to have with either a character creator or choosing an x-man instead of being stuck with picking of their 3 characters

People are well within their rights to express disappointment in a product or service that they are not satisfied with. I'm glad you liked the game but don't pretend that your position is made stronger by denying anyone the right to their opinion.

My expectations of the game were based on statements made by Dyack and advertisements that were designed to build anticipation. Explain to me how to build anticipation without establishing expectation.

Choice in gaming! Yaaaay!

Every time I read something that Denis Dyack says lately, or see the new game is he talking about... the more and more I feel like he is actually not very good at making games, and that Eternal Darkness was just a complete fluke.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

This is really about the dumbest idea I've heard in a while for a game. I don't want to play as some no name filler crap. If I play an X-men game, I want to play AS A FRIGGIN' X-MAN. You would think that would be pretty obvious... Why do they think games like DC Universe online fail so badly? No one wants to play in a licensed world as characters that are meaningless unless the new characters are done VERY well (i.e. some of the star wars games). Yeah, this game is going to be WAY better than MUA3 would have been... What a friggin' waste.
