We recall fondly last year's Dead Rising 2 panel, learning new information about weapons, plot and a Zombrex webseries, and it seems this year Capcom didn't want to mess with success. The Capcom panel revealed little new information about any of its titles, except for one game, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, an enhanced version of 2010's zombie sequel.
Pre-ordering Off the Record from Gamestop will give you cosplay clothing pack DLC, and anyone who played Dead Rising 2 can get Chuck Greene's jacket for Frank West to wear. Because the one thing we want when we're playing the revamp of a sequel whose second protagonist has been replaced by the original, is to see the original wearing the second's jacket. Finally, someone understands us.
Capcom also confirmed it is teaming up with IDW Publishing to release a graphic novel, Dead Rising: Road to Fortune, this October. Off the Record is scheduled to drop October 11, so that might be a good time for the comic to release too. Just sayin'.

I loved DR and DR2, but this sounds so pointless I don't even know what to think. Couple that with all the horrible decisions Capcom has made lately and my interest level is less than zero.

I found a seminar Inafune gave in Kyoto Uni on a site. Some quotes:
"Capcom had a official policy which dictated that up to 80 percent of its output had to be sequels to existing titles, making the company highly risk-averse"
"Dead Rising and Lost Planet became victims of the slavery to sequels, and the management rejected both ideas when pitched. Inafune however, overlooked their decision and continued developing both the games. His plan was to take development so far that he exceeded the budget allocated to prototypes, giving Capcom no choice but to release the games"
Was that why he was pushed to leave? The last good man at Capcorn?

Who can actually justify spending $40 on the same game with a few tweaks to the story and a few new weapons and a new character to play as? Who? I hope this sells like shit to send a message.

They'll lower the msrp in 2 weeks like they always do anyhow. I'm hoping I can use my ninja pack in this game too though.

They really shouldn't release screenshots like that without tweaking those hand textures first.

I'll wait for DR 3, Sorry Capcom. You've been disappointing us lately.

They should've just ended it with CW. I don't feel comfortable paying retail price for a what-if story that should be DLC.
Between this and SSFIVAE and UMVC3 and the inevitable AE, I'm not having any interest at all. Had Capcom been better lately (SRSLY NO MORE EDITIONS OF SAME GAME KTHXBAI) I might, but considering this is just them doing EXACTLY what they are doing with their other games (think about it), I won't be picking this up regardless - plus, Frank in that wrestling costume on TiR is a terrible joke anyway.

When I first heard about this, I actually thought this was a brand new game starring Frank West because I didn't think Capcom would rehash a game they just released less than a year earlier that wasn't titled Street Fighter. Apparently this is their business strategy for all series now.

another re-release?
I think the local game shop replaced the 'bargin bin' sign with a 'Capcorn bin' one

Well despite all the bitchiness in here, I can't wait, more new combo weapons and a big brand new area, along with a different story(same base sure but what doesn't).
Honestly I didn't care for chuck or his daughter, always having to go back and give zombrex while not hard, was annoying, and I hated all his little catch lines after beating a boss.
Chuck was a great character because he was a nobody, something a lot of us could relate to him. Let alone the game is only 40$, compared to a lot of games coming out this year,Halo CEA MW3 Battlefield 3 which are all clones of the prior game.

As a huge Dead Rising fan (played both 1 & 2 + prequel & epilogue) I will not buy this because there is quite literally no point at all.
Y u so dumb capcom?

Isn't is suspicious that Dan Aykroyd and Frank west are never in the same room together?

What I really need to know is if they're gonna improve those godawful loading times for the console versions. Or at least, if they plan to give us a mode that doesn't require racing from area to area all the time.

i see no problem with this game. i dont understand why you people here are comparing SF and DR :/ DR is open world and SF is a fighter. i can understand being mad about SF bs games but DR with frank and a new story/weapons im all in :)
