Bill Roper's cultivated an impressive resume during his tenure with the gaming industry, including executive positions with Blizzard North, Flagship Studios and Cryptic Studios. He left the latter developer -- his last place of employment -- last August, and today revealed his new home: The Disney Interactive Media Group, where he'll work as the vice president of the Marvel franchise.
Disney General Manager of Games Alex Seropian said, "With 17 years of experience in the worldwide gaming industry, we are confident that Bill has the creative vision necessary to help guide the next wave of development and product for DIMG's Marvel Games." We too are confident in Roper's abilities. And, considering his legacy, we can't wait to see how much dope loot he can squeeze into the next Spider-Man title.

After his garbage with Hellgate London he lost a lot of stock with me, then he jumps ship to the studio behind Champions Online...then they have issues and he leaves them. Meh.

Bill Roper leaves Disney Interactive Media Group
by Griffin McElroy on Jun 11th 2012 11:12PM
Vice President of Disney Interactive Media Group's Marvel Games, Bill Roper, has left the company. In a statement, Roper cited his "entrepreneurial spirit" had become "restless" again. When asked to elaborate further, Roper revealed that the "entrepreneurial spirit" within him ebbed and flowed like an ethereal tide, and warned employers that the spirit would regularly return to haunt him every 15 months
Roper went on to wish Disney's ailing MMO, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online, the best of luck in the future. "I'm sure the game will be in good hands," he commented. In other news, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online's servers are scheduled to be shut down next month.

Was gonna say, that FUTURE news made me lol here at work. Luckily it's Friday and a bunch of other people are doing the same, so I'm not getting stared at.

Hah. Impressive my ass. With the exception of Cryptic (who has been losing money steadily since Star Trek Online), all of these studios failed due to poor quality/bad production. And also a CCO? So basically a shit non-Content Development position. God damn you Gaming Industry HR/Management, learn to hire new people, instead of old useless fogeys. This is the real reason why we get shitty games.

Blizzard North, poor quality/bad production? They may have been closed/consolidated, but really, the most fitting response to what you've said is
LOL
Have a nice day.

Yep, that sounds like destiny...
I predict a posting about his dismissal from Disney Interactive on Joystiq within 2 years.

Awful, awful idea.
These days he can't hold a job more than five minutes before leaving. And how the hell did he get this job anyway? It should have gone to someone suitable.

His first move should be to make sure that Sega never makes another game with a Marvel property.

The guy made a mistake with Hellgate and now everyone brands him bad. God forbid any of you make a mistake, I shall bring down the righteous hammer of god and judge you all forever.
