Nope. For legal reasons, it's only suppose to give you the "impression" of the old game.

Its more of a COD game with elements borrowed from Goldeneye. In terms of gameplay.

Also i doubt its not a carbon replica because of legal issues. Probably easier to leave the way COD handles certain things.

No

"Part of the reason might be the fact that while Activision has worked with Nintendo to take control of the N64 game's rights, the actual code is still held by Rare, now owned by Microsoft. That weird ownership void is probably why this game is so confusing: It's meant to make you think of the old GoldenEye game, but not resemble it so much it attracts a lawsuit."

@Special Agent Steve
OK, I didn't read the full thing either until now. All I read was

"So yes, the odds are that we'll all be playing through GoldenEye (first created by Rare for the Nintendo 64 fourteen years ago, and reimagined by Eurocom for the Wii release last year) yet again."

and assumed it was the same thing.

Daniel Craig is great ... I don't care what haters say about him but his bond character is the most realistic yet ...

@solidsnake8282 Daniel Craig is great as Bond, but it's dumb how they replaced him with Sean Connery in this game.

@Warlock234 What's that? you got it all wrong ... originally it had Pierce Brosnan ... and it's now Daniel Craig... not Sean Connery

Read the books. Craig acts like Bond more than any other so far.

Your name is...awesome! I read your comment in his voice too XD

OT: I never got to play the original as I wasn't any good at fps games (I still suck), but I might check this out.

This just a Wii game? I never played Goldeneye on the N64 - wanted too, heard so much praise about it.

Might have to purchase a Wii after the reviews come out if it comes close to the reviews of the N64 original.

@DigitalEmporer

This is an HD version of the Wii game (that came out last year), which in turn is a remake of the Nintendo 64 classic.

Just wait until this is out and play it. No need to go out and buy a Wii.

Just wanted to share an article with anyone interested about a Golden Eye 007 Remake for the 360 that was cancelled. Very interesting read for GoldenEye fans.

Has there been any word of it coming to PC?

What this game needs is Brosnan, Moore and Connery DLC!

What's everyone problem with this game? Yeah, it wasn't the 1997 N64 masterpiece (which I actually played) but this game was good on it's own.

It's funny how, for this game, the "goofy" AI mentioned is only given a passing, more nostalgic comment, whereas if this was a new or modern game it would be considered a big flaw.

I meanto pick this up when it launched on the Wii but didn't have the cash at the time. Looks like I'll be picking up the PS3 version instead because I like my trophies.

How did Activision get this on the PS3 and 360? They design rights are owned by Rare (now owned by Microsoft), and Nintendo still owns rights to the game as well.

Why is everyone saying it's a CoD rip? CoD is the FPS genre at it's most basic form, if anything CoD rips from every other great shooter. And even then it's not an enjoyable experience, unless you're either not a gamer or 13 years old.

I'll definitely be buying this.... when it drops to $20. Too many other good games coming out to drop full price on this.

Really looking forward to this. I know it's basically just COD with a Bond suit on, but if the new focus on stealth and the addition of extra Bond-like elements and modes really is true, there might still be some hope in making this the best Goldeneye outing to date.

I had burned a copy for my Wii and loved it using a gamecube controller. So I would definitely buy this, hated the gamecube controller. I do wish they could just make a TRUE HD port of the original. Microsoft are a bunch of bastards. If they end up making it for the xbox I may have to kill somebody. It isn't because I don't own an xbox, because I do, but it's like when they made the move of Resident Evil from Sony to xbox also, should've stayed on Sony systems.(not including the GC remakes). The xbox wasn't even an idea yet but it could get a true goldeneye HD remake. You go to hell Microsoft.

Joystiq, did you forget about 007 mode? When you beat every single level on 00 agent difficulty, you unlocked 007 mode, where you can set all of that.
