Well how the hell do you get all of the costumes?! Why couldn't "Shop Mode" from MvC2 return, to when you beat the game, you use in-game currency to unlock characters and costumes and stages? Now it's realistic shop mode, where you use real money to unlock it on the disc fml

@cylet meh, more like "buy the entire game again just to get a couple more costumes and characters" mode. Though the Elvis MODOK and the inclusion of Phoenix Wright (finally) does make it rather enticing...

This is what DLC has done sadly. More money for companies to grab.

Everyone is doing all this math and getting angry about the 40 cost, but im telling you its gonna be worse. They'll release the game for 40 dollars with like half the new roster available. The rest is gonna be dlc. Bet on it.

Capcorn you are a joke, and not a funny one.

You hardly announce the re-assue of the game and months before the launch you already talking DLC?
Your games used to have resale value, but that saving grace is not even there anymore.

MK ang KOF13 are going to be the major fighting games until Tekken vs Capcorn arrives.

I was even planning on getting SF3online but after this string of fan shafting I don't think there will be much competition.

See you all Oct.25th

I remember when costumes were unlocked by playing rather than paying. Capcom, you and your apologists suck. I'll buy this used when the third or fourth MvC3 comes out.

I seriously hope that one of the two alternate costumes for Taskmaster is his Udon designed costume. If it I will squeal like a girl.

I'm such a freaking Marvel fanboy it's embarrassing....

I'm wanting my Jean Grey costume quite badly. I'm either hoping for the 90s outfit or the red Phoenix outfit she wore during the start of the 2000s when Cyclops was missing.

@Mrguy you know that guy

And the sad thing is, both Red Arremer (AKA Firebrand) and Strider are two of my fave characters. Ironic that both have not had a proper game in years, yet Mega Man, arguably their most recognizable character, is not in it as one of his many iterations.

And instead of an AWESOME character, esp. a actual FEMALE on the Marvel side...we get a lame anthro raccoon no one cares about.

At least SF4 was out for a year before SSF4 came out. If they went and pulled the same crap with AE and made it disc only then I definitely wouldn't have gotten it. But because it was available as a DLC pack then I was fine with that. That's what SHOULD happen with this "ultimate" version for MvC3...

One interesting thing though, I was watching the Capcom stream/interview today where the guy doing SFxTekken was answering questions and he specifically said that "fans" said "If there was no Yoshimitsu in it then they would NOT get the game...

I know he probably doesn't have any pull or say for MvC3, but us other fans that know the value of the money we already spent (unlock others that just go out and buy every little thing Capcom throws at them) REALLY need to try and get Capcoms attention that we're just not going to get this newer version unless they give us a DLC option as well for the people that already went and bought the original version!!! I have looked ALL OVER for contact info for Capcom, but can't find anything other than a contact for their online store. But we have their forums, twitter, facebook, etc.. to try and use to try and make Capcom see that they are NOT going to get our money by doing what they're doing.... PERIOD!!!!

Plus they keep saying it'll be released in the "mid price range", well $40 is NOT the middle price range when games cost $60+... Even if it was $30 that's to much for something that we just purchased less then a year... $25 would be my max amount I would be OK with. Not happy, but OK. $20 or lower then it would be a for sure purchase and they could do that by releasing it as a DLC pack for us that already have the original game, even $25 would work...

Don't buy into their excuse that they could not release it as a DLC pack because it's "to big" or "to many changes", all of that is their BS excuse just like the earthquake and tsunami being the cause for all this... IT CAN BE DONE!!!! They don't have to make all the small changes like to the hud or stuff like that and still keep what is already there... They can basically get all the new characters, stages, costumes, gameplay tweaks and balance all in a DLC pack or two.... Heck I'm sure they could even tweak all the other stuff like the hud and stuff that is minor and not relevant to the gameplay in a DLC pack as well.... But either way, they need to really look at this option and we really need to speak up and let them know this is what we want....

@xxZOMBIExx I don't get it.

You have (i hate this term) Vanilla MVC3. You are, I assume, enjoying it on some level.

Marvel announces newer more updated UMVC3. For 40 dollars. And you are indignant that it will exist so soon.

When you could:

1)Continue enjoying VMVC3, until the new game reaches a reasonable price.
2)Continue enjoying VMVC3 indefinitely, or until you otherwise feel you've gotten your money's worth.
3) Sell your Vanilla copy now, probably on EBay, and use most of that money on the new game.

Essentially, the new games existence should not be treated as the death of the old game.

Of course, some of you didn't enjoy VMVC3. Which begs the question: What do you want from UMVC3? It's the same game, essentially, except with more stuff. Why would you want a new version of something you didn't like to exist later? You shouldn't care. The new game does nothing for your non-enjoyment of the old game, and if you're smart, you probably won't buy it. I mean, if I don't like a shit sandwich, the existence of a shit Big Mac should not be offensive to me because I know it's got stuff that I don't like.

Of course, maybe you didn't like VMVC3 and you don't like UMVC3 (And great job acting surprised, guys! Wasn't this a telegraphed punch if I ever saw one)existing...but you'll buy it anyway. For some reason. Because you're a fan, or "fan" or you like to buy things that make you angry. Well, do you think Capcom cares about your anger, and your plays-on-words, and what you think is a reasonable amount of time to release an updated re-release of a fighting game? No, they care if you buy or don't. So if you're buying anyway(and on 1rst day, because you're just that indignant) you might as well, not bother doing the whole "Angry comment" thing.

It's such a dirty underhanded tactic, that's been successful for what's soon to be 20 years now! They did it with Street Fighter, they did it with Resident Evil, and they'll do it again because, guess what? If you guys grudgingly give Capcom money, they can't use the grudgingly part on exotic Hawaii vacations!

We're pissed because Capcom offered no support after one wave of limp on-disc DLC, then we find out Capcom's greed forced an incomplete game to be released.

We are also quite pissed that Mega Man is getting shunned.

Yeah alot of projects and stuff were cancelled, but there's no way in hell that the earthquake somehow made it impossible to release this as DLC but still possible as a full on game. Their excuse doesn't even make sense...

Goto Bestbuy and trade in your MvC3 for $25.50 for your futur purchase of Ultimate MvC3.

you guys do know you dont have to keep your old game right?

not sure why i did it since i havnt played MvC3 since the launch since SSF4 destroys it in every way.

On the subject of the actual topic...I find it funny how Best Buy got the absolute lamest set of alternate outfits, GameStop got the next-best, and Amazon got what is probably the slickest set. Doesn't excuse the fact Capcom will rape wallets for five dollah a pop later, but still, man, talk about those other guys getting the shaft.

And yet everybody that complains is just gonna pay $60 in november for the same game that comes out every november. i dont even have to mention what game it is. those with a guilty conscience will implicate themselves and try to validate their reasons for doing so. I WILL buy UMvC3 because i want to. just like people buying madden every year or that other game. i look forward to the new version of say street fighter or marvel because they really do tweak things and and lots of content with each iteration. dont want it? dont buy it.

Replay value used to mean you could get more from the game by playing it more. Now it equals being able to buy DLC for it.

Can I go back 10 years? Games were games with actual replay value and not a fancy hook for DLCs.

Look, you can pay $5 extra dollars at Best Buy for any game purchase. If you do you get a year where if an updated title comes out you can get them free.

Now that some of you know this, I figure you might use this at your next purchase. It's how my friend got one of the CoD's "free".
