i don't get this game. you can't move your character. so when you see enemies all you do is swing your arm and kill them and move on to the next waves. im not a troll. but yeah just sayin.

@psnshe69mee There was an on rail (glowing foam) sword game on Wii Sports Resort where you could guard against incoming sword blows and then counter attack while they were stunned or try to cut through their guard. Is there any of that at least in SWK?

Bummer, I enjoyed the original pod racer games for quick and dirty scifi racer fun. When I saw the screenshot I was hoping for a real update, not a kinect mini-game. :(

@devwild It's not like that game was particularly complicated. I'm sure they could inflate this into a full game, but they just... won't, probably.

Yay! Someone who actually played Episode 1 Racer.

As awful as most things associated with the prequel trilogy are, Episode 1 Racer is one of the most solid and expansive racing games of the PSX/N64/Slightly Dreamcast era.

This, however, looks like another game that won't get me interested in Kinect.

the weak n64? I think not, the pc and the dreamcast versions was the only ones to play and the rocked even in multiplayer.

Stuff like this worries me when it comes to a (strong?) possibility of a HALO or GEARS OF WAR appearing on KINECT. I love the device but I think they're going too casual with the gameplay than most would want.

Seriously, Lucas must be forcing them to include pod racing. Otherwise no one would be including any references to the worst film in the series.

Pod Racer! I don't like Star Wars all that much, but I loved the N64 pod racer game. That was awesome. Maybe if this little mini game is popular enough they'll make another full game.

Not really, but that cringe inducing scene? Yeah, I feel that reading about this "game".

If only we could all win and this would be awesome along with games in general on the Kinect. But as the prequels taught us, life just isn't fair sometimes. So, now I'm off to kill some sand people because they stole my childhood gaming dreams!

The great thing was, if you played as Anakin in Episode 1 Racer, you got to hear all of Jake Lloyd's awful line deliveries repeatedly, in every race.

Between that and the lameness of his racer, I never chose him- but my best friend always chose him. Every. Single. Time.

@Kick it Yep. There are nerds who were born in the 90s and saw Phantom Menace before the original trilogy. It was my introduction to Star Wars, and the reason I watched the other films, and got into the books and games and toys.

Fan since '77 here. I liked it. There were good parts and embarrassingly dumb parts, just like in any Star Wars movie.

The thing to remember is that, as much as now-adult fans (like myself) might wish to pretend otherwise, these are and always have been movies for kids. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

@StClair The original trilogy didn't stoop to stupidity to try and appeal to kids. It didn't have to try to appeal to kids at all, they loved it for the adventures and cool characters. Adults could get into the deeper mythology. It was universally loved by all ages. A bad movie is a bad movie, regardless of its intended audience and Phantom Menace is a terrible movie that no one should try and excuse by calling it a 'kids movie'.

I hear ya. I grew up on the original trilogy, so I have my biases. The Ewoks werent exactly anything to be proud of. I think the original trilogy had a more adult feel to it than Phantom Menace at least. But I hope we can still agree that Phantom Menace is the weakest of all the movies.

I once read somewhere (back in my teens, before the interwebs in a time I'd buy every SW magazine they'd put in the newstands) that the Battle of Endor should actually take place in Kashyyyk, but they turned in favor of the dumb Ewoks for merchandising purposes. Sorry, can't cite any sources, since it's been a long time and I've never found anything about it again.

Oh yeah, but at least it spawned the Chewbacca Defence!

If you haven't heard of it, check out "The Phantom Edit". Someone took the original Phantom Menace and edited it to actually make it a pretty great movie. They even warbled Jar-Jar's speech and gave him subtitles, so instead of being grating and annoying, his character is actually kind of cocky. It's awesome.

I have to admit, although the light saber game sounded interesting, I wasn't sure it would carry an entire XBLA game, let alone a stand alone title. But now that I'm hearing there's different portions of the game, I'm somewhat intrigued, especially if they can pull off the Kinect control.

So the guy was not even a fan of pod racing in both either the movies or the games. Sounds like a poor choice to preview a game. Would been much more helpful coming from someone who actually appreciates pod racing. I am stoked to play this game and pod racing is a big part of it for me.
