Star Wars R2-D2 Xbox 360 priced in UK

The Limited Edition Star Wars Xbox 360 console, priced at $449 in the States, has been given a suggested retail price of £349.99 in the UK (ouch, that's $570 US!). The standard 250GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle retails at £299.99.

The rebellious console from a galaxy far, far away was revealed last week at San Diego Comic-Con. It includes a 320GB hard drive, a white Kinect, the R2-D2 inspired console, a C-3PO colored controller, Kinect Star Wars and Kinect Adventures. The console will also feature Star Wars sound effects for operations like powering up, ejecting discs, and setting coordinates for Dagobah. Xboxes can do that, right?

Damn I want that 320 GB hard drive. I already used up my 250.

I'd like that 320GB as well. I'm sure they will be sold separately soon. Did you know you can get aftermarket hard drives for the 360? I got a 250GB for my Wife's 360 on amazon for $43. The seller uses the proprietary case design on western digital drives. They look and function exactly the ones MS charges $129 for. They work flawlessly.

I say this because I imagine they will be doing the same for the 320GB version as well. So keep an eye on amazon. I bet they will be under $70.

If you want to check out the 250GB version search amazon for 360 Slim 250gb hard drive by Brainydeal. Wish I knew this before I bought my Slim. I could have gotten it for $243 instead of $300.

That because inside the casing, it IS a normal hard drive.

I don't think Microsoft even uses the custom firmware anymore.

Microsoft massively rips people off on their hard drives. You can get a 2TB (i.e. 2000GB for non-techies) Western Digital hard drive for $150.

I have never seen a 2TB 2.5 inch drive. I think you are pricing 3.5 (which is probably what the WD is) to 2.5 ( which is what the 360 uses).

I'm not saying that MS doesnt rip people off on HDD prices, they certainly do. But dont confuse people.

You can, however, get 1TB 2.5 inch drives for around $100.

full 360 price list for us/canada:
$199 - 4g normal
$299 - 250g normal
$299 - 4g + kinect
$399 - 250g + kinect
$399 - 320g Gears3
$449 - 320g Star Wars + kinect

any leftover units from the old xbox, the non slim versions, used to sell from 129-199, but i think they ran out now.

MS is selling over 500k per month during the "slow" summer months in the US.

If we want prices to drop, people need to stop buying them.

With sales that good, MS has no reason to lower prices.

Considering the Kinect + 250GB Console is £299 in most good retailers in the UK.
Paying an extra £51 for the Game and the exclusive white console-ness + 320GB HD doesn't seem THAT bad in comparison.

Compare it to the GoW3 console, which is £269 and for the additional £80 I'm getting a brand new Kinect which normally retails at £129 new.

Poor Brits...

But I'm feeling a serious urge to buy this. Really serious. Mega-Serious, as in, Sirius Black-serious.

Assuming the Brits pay 50 pounds per Kinect game this is following the standard pricing model for the UK anyhow.

Fortunately, I'm American. Unfortunately, I MUST own this.

Kinect Games in the UK vary from £35-40 brand new. no Kinect game has a £50 RRP. I think FIFA12 will be the first to have a £55 RRP but that's about it, and that will have Kinect support.

Here in Mexico is gonna be around $560, and to tell you the truth, I don´t like it, maybe looks better in front of you, but in all pictures looks like a Xbox with some cheap decals....

I want to buy this so badly. i bought a halo 3 Xbox360 several years ago since it was on sale with some games and extra controller for about 400$
but now im so tempted to upgrade for this unit since im looking to get a kinect anyway..... ffffffffff

Reserved this one. How could you pass on one of the, if not THE best looking limited edition console made. And this is coming from someone who prefers the PS3. Can't wait to get mine and play all the games I've not been able to play since my last RRODed.
