Hooray for this game being better gameplay-wise than I thought. Might pick it up soon...

I realized it wasn't for me when I decided it was an Asian romance movie starring Qbert.

the demo for this really took me by suprise. initially, my thought was this was basically a puzzle game that should have been downloadable for $25, but they are trying to get away with charging $60. i still wasn't too crazy about the puzzle gameplay, but everything else in the game just oozes style and the plot seems genuinely interesting. it seems to have an actual morality system that does something, and a story that is actually geared towards adults. i'll probably wait till i find it for about $30-40 (which is about what i do for most games now), but everyone should give the demo a shot, even if they were wanting to write this one off.

Good luck with that. It's an Atlus game, they do limited print runs. They usually go straight from full price to completely unavailable, sometimes with a stop at greater than MSRP from the hoarders.

Not always. And more often now, they're bringing back second / third print runs with their games. I was initially afraid of that too, but now, I'm gamble on it and probably just miss out on the preorder goodies.

Worst case scenario, I buy it used before it becomes an EBay gold mine item.

The only 2 games of late that haven't been hard to find for me post-release were Persona 3 FES (A Directors Cut), and Demon's Souls (Which had a large word-of-mouth sales bump, and is now a Greatest Hit). In general, Atlus games become super scarce after release. I would always reccomend picking them up as soon as you can, or end up like I did, having to drive 30 miles to find a copy of Persona 4.

@pkpk523 Don't worry. Atlus games tend to stay pretty stocked on Amazon anyhow. Though I do remember doing some insane goose hunts for some of the Atlus games pre-me-buying everything on Amazon.

I really want this, but at the same time want to wait until the price comes down some. September-onward is going to get pretty expensive... Demo was great though. Maybe I'll cave...

Good luck finding a copy for cheap if you wait. Atlus titles get a ridiculous premium after they sell out.

It really is. I'd love to get this and Bastion, but I just don't have the time and money to spend on games that I'll be waiting to play.

Look, Catherine, once Child of Eden and Trenched are done, we'll talk. No, no, I'll call you.

@Demaar I don't think that's true so much anymore, you can find Persona 3 or 4 on Amazon for around $20 each. Demons Souls came down in price pretty quick too.

@That One Guy

Not true. It takes two play through's of each level in order to have enough stars to unlock the next one. Each level alone takes about 10 minutes to play through (regardless of the player since it is basically on rails). So that is AT LEADT 100 minutes. I have played level 1 four times, level 2 three times, level 3 four times and level 4 only once. I will probably play level 4 a couple more times before I tackle level 5. I usually play the levels again in order for someone else to view them since they are so cool to watch and listen to.

Im not going to lie. Of my 10 PS3 games, half are FPS games. The other half are sports, RPG, and action. In complete honesty, most games have been getting dull and are starting to feel the same to me. This game looks completely different and I am definitely going to pick it up. (But since I'm a poor college student, I'll wait till it drops to $30 or $40).

I really like the idea, and I love how a developer went out and tried something different, but I found the puzzle part of the demo to be pretty disappointing. Im in a weird state with this, cause I really want the game to succeed, but I can't really justify paying $60 for it yet, especially with late August-September being a really good time for new games. But I am glad to see the score so high.

The last paragraph seemed pretty reassuring - in the sense that I'm glad that this game has sufficient enough replay value. I'm glad something's filling in the suspenseful/dramatic gaming void on the consoles since HEAVY RAIN.
The demo was surprising mix of a thriller and dark comedy that hooked me into pre-order already. I wouldn't mind a full-fledged anime/live action movie or cutscene mode, either.

@foxhound From what I understand it does have several different endings depending on your decisions throughout the game.

Currently on it's way to me via GameFly...I could not see myself buying this game outright even if there's a price drop w/in the next few months. I know I know, maybe I'm adding to the game not doing well, but it's such a niche area of gaming. One that's pretty new to me and I got to face it...I'm no good at puzzlers. The story is what's drawing me to even try it though and the combination between the two mechanics of "romance simulation" and "puzzle game" has me intrigued.

This game is extremely hard to recommend to people the puzzle part of the game doesn't really suck you in. I respect atlus for trying something different but i can't see this game selling millions.

@bargaingamer - I completely agree. I disliked the puzzle portion greatly (on the import copy I bought when the game came out in Japan) and the rest of the game couldn't make up for that.

If you played the demo, and you didn't like the puzzle portion, don't buy the game. The story portion doesn't come close to making up for it (for me). Some parts are beautifully animated, and other parts (the in-game parts) look like they could have been ported from the PS2.

I love Atlus, but this is just not a good game. Unless they've considerably tweaked the control scheme from the import version, it is difficult to play on a mechanical level. You'll fall to your death over and over because Vincent zigged when you wanted him to zag. There is barely an overworld either, and the character interactions aren't particularly well animated to top it all off.
