Why? This director seems to have his head screwed on straight. Why not have him make a movie for people that don't play games? I reckon everyone should experience Uncharted, even those with stupid fingers.

@Demaar

why must Hollywood make movies based off of games anyhow? has the creativity well dried up to the point where they must constantly take from other media outlets? they've already butchered some of my favorite childhood things. Transformers, Where the Wild Things Are, G.I. Joes, etc. etc. every game-based movie thus far has sucked just as much as the movie-based games that often accompany big budget films. so why...why must they do this? will Uncharted the movie really be any different? will Halo? or Gears? God of War? i doubt that very much.

and quit with the Nathan Fillion crap already, he's not even a good actor ffs.

It could be great. The thing is, normally games don't lend themselves well to a movie. Uncharted does. It has this exciting world of adventure. My dad would watch me play it as if it were a movie. The main thing people forget is that this doesnt have to be a retelling of a game. Thats the beauty of it. There the motion comic, novel, and more comics coming that all tell different stories and adventures of Drake. Hell, they movie could be a new story, and even canon! It's funny how people both for AND apposed to the movie, use the fact that the game is cinematic like a movie. "It's like a movie! it can translate well!" "It's like a movie already, it doesn't need an actual movie" Sure it does, when it gives us more adventures of Drake, maybe even a story that coouldnt be applied to a game as well.
p.s. Halo is another story heavy franchise, it has good movie potential too.

@mywhitenoise You know I think Gerard Butler. Controversy!
He's a better actor and if he improved his accent a bit more he'd be very good imo.

Lets make a movie based on a game that desperately wants to be a movie instead of a game, just like all the other movies based on games that want to be movies instead of games.

@AltairtheAssassinwhokillstuff And he directed and written The Illusionist which is one of my favourite films!
However there are few and little decent video game films so I'll wait until it's finished before I judge.

"Burger wasn't aware of Nathan Fillion's run at the part"

Why are these guys always oblivious to the video game and sci-fi culture? If I were making the movie, I'd be on Joystiq 24/7 to see the fan feedback and ideas.

Can I just please take over?

I actually read a few weeka ago that he was fully aware of the Fillion cult, but he wasn't even interested in finding actors until the script was done.

hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa XD

yeeaaaahhh cause thats who i want to take advice from. Be realistic, not a fanboy. Fillion will never play the part, for one, so taking advice from ANY website is the worse idea any self respecting director.

NOW, if you said they can get feedback and ideas from Naughty Dog themselves then i would take you seriously.

@PR0F3TA Well I think listening to the fans aka the people who are going to pay to watch the movie would be a good idea. Thats the point he was trying to make.
@Jovrick I think Uncharted has a lot more going for it than just being different from all the games that are currently out there. Additionally you must play a very limited number of games if the only games you're familiar with are games with "Vin Diesel lookalikes with the occasional supermodel-in-a-combat-thong pandering female protagonist." There's a lot more out there. The fact that its more like a movie i.e story driven doesn't make Uncharted a poorer game. That it moves past being your typical action adventure platformer by adding an element of story telling is what has made this game so kick ass. Also I doubt you've played he game(s) that much, because there's a lot of "doing" in Uncharted and there's a lot to see as well.

Uncharted sells itself because its story driven(at least I think so) I often found myself as excited about the cut scenes as the actual gameplay. Usually that is never the case always willing the cut scenes to fly by. I think it would make a great movie if it was cast right and kept true to the original's ideas, characters etc. But really I'm just waiting for the 3rd installment.

Want actors? Just use the voice actors from the game in their own roles. It's the perfect opportunity to make a decent movie, where at least you'll have the voices and mannerisms spot on, if not the appearance - and I could easily live with that.

Okay, they're not big Hollywood stars, but they can all act, and I'd rather have a proper voice and people who know the characters inside out, than some Hollywood B-lister who neither looks nor sounds anything like the character and wants to give us their "interpretation".

If your parents and sisters can't use a controller then they should just watch Romancing the Stone. The only thing that's actually special about Uncharted is that it involves a few endearing male and female characters instead of an army of roid raging grunt men and takes place in a few colourful Indiana Jones style environments instead of a series of dirty post apocalyptic industrial parks like every other game released in the past 6 years.

Otherwise it's just the same borderline FMV shooter as everything else in this generation; you walk down a cluttered hallway with a bunch of loud cutscenes playing in the skybox outside the level while shooting a large assortment of identical machine guns at various identical men with machine guns who pop up from behind exploding barrels. Every now and then you walk up to a context sensitive spot and press the use button to "solve a puzzle" or "traverse" over something. Ultimately the emphasis on being like a movie makes it a poorer game because all the effort goes into making you look at things instead of making you do things.

The characters make it more unique and enjoyable as a game, but that's mostly because the gaming character landscape currently consists entirely of Vin Diesel lookalikes with the occasional supermodel-in-a-combat-thong pandering female protagonist. In the film realm where there's actually more than one kind of character and one kind of story, Uncharted is basically generic and even trite. It has a few standard issue attractive people making worried faces while their lives are (not) threatened by various ethnic villains. Turning the game into a movie would basically kill what makes it special.

Oh wow, never even thought about Bradley Cooper. I'm still pulling for Mr. Fillion, but he is a bit old now and I do happen to think that Cooper could pull off the role quite nicely.

Honestly, I feel like an Uncharted film will end up coming off as a cross between National Treasure and the Hercules TV series. So - awful. The game is such a film of itself already. I am fulfilled by this. I don't need a movie adaptation to seal the deal for me.

And I think Nathan Fillion is an average-to-decent actor when cast in the right role. Definitely nothing special, though.

I wonder if anyone's considered trying an Uncharted Film in a similar style to the upcoming TinTin flick. I feel that would easily engage the audience and remove the 'who should play Nate' argument.

..erm yeah, ok, gonna leave now.

Ok wait.. I also have to say, whether this movie is good or not, it's great to see directors like David O Russel booted off projects when they unleash their lunatic egos. This is what's always been wrong with movie games. ...that and Uwe Boll.
