That's great eh. Let me take my special Canadian moose money I get from selling maple syrup that's similar to those Mexican pesos and head on into the store. Hockey!

Possibly, but you'll lose that $50 savings easily.

Or you could get some trailer park boys to put it on the Patrick Swayze Express in exchange for some smokes.

$50 off at Future Shop. $30 gift card and the games are buy one get one free at Toys R Us.

Is the 3DS just not selling fast enough for retailers?

@WearyExile The Wii has been on sale a lot of times since launch, and is the #1 home console in sales this gen, same with the DS

@Vidaluko The Wii wasn't on sale the first year of launch. Nor the second year.

3DS still not worth it at anything less than $100 off the original price. Will pay $150.

On sale? You couldn't even *find* one until a year after its launch!

@baby sea tuna ....wait, are you arguing for or against my point? ^_^

Retailers didn't need to give customers incentives to buy the Wii or DS, they sold fine on their own. More than fine, actually. But now the 3DS is gathering dust on store shelves. Some stores still haven't sold their first shipment (of systems AND games) and retail chains are resorting to some really good sales that they have to be losing a lot of money on in order to move product.

@Roto13 I never bought a XL so I cant attest to it. I paid $150 for a few DSs and I thought it was a great, fair price for a great product. I dont see this system as much of an improvement so I would pay $150 for the upgrade. It isn't worth much more imho especially with a software hike.

This is the first handheld in about a decade I didn't feel the need to purchase at release. price incentives are the only way to sway me and even that is a tough sell with superior handhelds out there. Superior = current gen smartphones.

this is true, as the word "since" does not mean 'within one year'.

@baby sea tuna - That's the difference here. The Wii was in insane demand, and low supply (suspiciously low, some claim) for almost a year. The 3DS was never in short supply, and has never been in that high of demand.

I definitely had to eat my hat over my prediction that the 3DS would be huge.

@Fire Walk With Me

I don't think the issue here is the 3D. To me the 3D is just a nice addition on top of everything else the 3DS offers. The PROBLEM is that the 3DS doesn't offer much. Especially when put in the same spotlight as the PSV.

$50 off is actually a pretty enticing offer, $200 is a good enough price for me to pay for the 3DS. I just can't convince myself to buy a handheld for a remake of a game I've already played, one that I don't have a $200 urge to play again.

Even with the 3D turned off the 3DS is still a lot better than a DSi, so I dunno why it would matter too much if the 3D fad died or not.

3DS' issue is that it appears too similar to DS, plus the lack of must have games. Battery life issues aren't helping the cause much either.

It honestly looks and feels like an unfinished prototype. Hopefully they announce a revamped version at e3 next year in between all the Wii U stuff.

@Co

It is interesting to note the philosophy and approach Nintendo is taking with 3DS and Wii U in relation to their predecessors. Definitely a big difference compared to the relation between DS/GBA and Wii/GameCube.

Unlike 3DS though, I think Wii U will end up being a home run.

Still too expensive for a system with only one good game on it (Ocarina of Time 3D).

I still have hope for the system but where the hell is Kid Icarus: Uprising, Super Mario 3D, the rumored Super Smash Bros 3D and all those great E3 demos?? All we have now are Ocarina of Time 3D (mercifully), the Virtual Console releases are overpriced and artificially delayed, and the rest is crapware. Mega Man Legends 3 being killed doesn't help.

Is Nintendo hoping that the stall is really gonna make us break down and buy the crapfests that are Steel Diver and Pilotwings Resort?

Cool beans now tie a porkchop around the 3DS and you just might have a deal ...... or convince developers to release games that are worth a damn.

Streetfighter is a decent game
OOT is a decent game
MM will probably be a decent game

None of which are going to get me to drop $200-250 on the 3DS without other games to back them up, tho I would probably buy them should I purchase a 3DS.
