As far as Deathsmiles developer Cave is concerned,
Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform can go to hell. Bullet-hell, that is! Makoto Asada,
head of Cave's Game Development Department, has announced via dev-blog that the company is currently developing a shooter for Microsoft's burgeoning smartphone OS.
Beyond the fact that development is somewhere between 20 and 30 percent complete, details are scarce. No screenshots or other information have been given, though the announcement refers to the game as an original title, which more than likely means it won't be a port of Cave's recent Deathsmiles release for iOS (above). It's also safe to assume that the game will be bewilderingly difficult.

@Entegy It's not a proper bullet-hell game if it's not striving to be like Touhou.

@Entegy I can't tell if he was being sarcastic or not, because all the Cave shooters on the iPhone have played just fine.

Why not on something like iOS or Android where there are more users?

3 reasons
1) To help build a new user base on another platform
2) Microsoft probably gives lucrid benefits right now for developers willing to make exclusives for WP7 games
3) XNA is a C# based language which makes it really easy to pick up and learn if you're aiming for a programming career and you could very easily side project something in XNA.

I hope it gets an iOS port. I love Deathsmiles. It could do with more stages and variety but other than that, the game rules.
Also, down with the spam-bots. There are about as many of their posts here as there are legitimate user comments. Joystiq, please find a way to stop them.

This might be cool. I'll have to try it out when it hits the marketplace. It will give me something to play when I finally finish The Harvest and Tentacles.

Also Cave can easily port the game over to XBLA which they have had some success with their games on the platform. With MS giving some coin to the development, makes the risk much less risky.
