I want this. Loved the first game. Hope it isn't forgotten by the developers.

@Dcmac No, it was confirmed that they are working on more Mirror's Edge. It's never been confirmed a 'sequel' in the style of the original was coming. When it is, I'll be jumping for joy, but until then I'm tired of getting my hopes up from gaming press and commenters misquoting.

@Entegy

I think this new one will review well unlike the first one which got average reviews. I think the game media hive mind will give it great reviews even if it is the same game. They don't admit it but game reviews are affected by hype and what readers want to read.

Loved Mirror's edge as it is one of my favorites of this generation.

@FriedConsole I agree. I just played it recently for the first time, and would say it's easily one of the best, and certainly most original, games on the XBOX 360.

I also love this game despite the fact that it gave me serious motion sickness and I couldn't really play more than 45 minutes at a tme.

It was stupid when I read it in PSM and it's stupid still when I read it here. Mirror's Edge was an Unreal Engine game, not a Frostbite game. A new engine won't change their minds about it.

@SirUrza

I agree that a new engine wouldn't affect the focus on this. But finishing up Battlefield 3 will give DICE a lot of free development time so they might go back to this with.

Also are you certain it was unreal? it all just looked so frostbite-y to me.

Mirror's Edge was absolutely made with the unreal engine, in fact if you're savvy enough, you can make your own mirror's edge maps in unreal.

Also, A change of engine would be incentive to make a new game, as Dice wouldn't have to license UE3 from epic and pay license fees which range from about 50k to 500k.

I'd love to see it happen.

Yes, Mirror's Edge was started before they finished making the Frostbite Engine. It uses Unreal3 and PhysX.

@SirUrza They didn't say that ME used Frostbite, only that a sequel might. And if they can use an engine that they already own, rather than pay the license fee to Epic for UE, yes that actually would make it more likely that a sequel will come out.

Hoo-yeeeeeah!! I cannot wait to see what they do with the sequel. Despite the story of the first game being fairly of weak, Mirror's Edge still stands as one of my all-time favorite games. Such a bold, unique presentation and circumvention of the first-person genre. Gush, gush, gush, gush.

it's funny how there are somehow so many fans on the net when the game sold like shit at retail. i enjoyed the first, but didn't think it was mind blowing. the shooting was terrible, which made running through the game without firing a single bullet (besides that mandatory one) a lot easier than it sounds. anyway, hopefully if there is a sequel they can tighten up the platforming a bit. it usually wasn't that obvious where to go at all. and please, EA, don't force the developers to tack on some sort of shitty co-op parkour multiplayer mode that won't be used after the first few novelty weeks.

BTW, the game isn't an FPS so why the hell would you need shooting mechanics as tight as MW or BF? It got the job done and didn't get in the way, so I don't know what you're complaining about.

This game was a beast on the pc, ps3 version was ok too (played through it again for the trophies).

No to mention the visuals were totally unique, i'd gladly buy this game and a new pc along with it.

I could see them using something like the Frostbite engine really well in Mirrors edge.

To be honest though I just want a second one no matter what the engine.

If you've looked closely at BF3 gameplay footage you might see some hints at inspiration from DICE's own Mirror's Edge.

Agreed the subway video movement looked ripped straight from it (probably not possible but it might have been the same animator).

Do you ever have to interact with DICE at all?

I'm working on multiple titles, one of which is BF3. Though I won't say anything about it that you can't already find on released videos.

Is Joystiq hinting that Mirror's Edge 2 will be 'cooler' as in the new setting will be in cold, snowy city? Or did they just use the word as a pun for the Frostbite 2 engine? Tell us what you know now Joystiq!

Comments about this game's subpar story always confuse me. Have you guys, like, played video games before? The story isn't great, but it's above average on the admittedly sad video game curve.
