@Cleric Ahhh, the current-gen, entitled gamer. Undervaluing the brilliant work of talented studios one downloadable title at a time. They could put this game in a $30 retail package and it would still feel like a steal considering just how well made it is.

Worth every dollar. Got it last week when they accidentally sold it early. I couldn't stop playing. I recommend it to anyone that even has a slight interest in it.

Yeah, I agree. Honestly 15 bucks is too cheap for this game, but I'll be glad to pay it. It looks incredible and worth more than they are charging.

@fohf

This is one I'll definitely keep on my list for when I eventually get an Xbox, unless it comes to PSN before then.

I'll support this just because I like the art. I like that there are games now that actually use very illustrative and graphic styles, even if they are very simple games.

@Epoque Sometimes one has to wonder why we still pay $60 for the next CoD every year when it's basically Texture Pack DLC, and yet games like this that could be charged MORE for get called too expensive...

ehh do we need to discuss CoD on every thread? I buy it to talk trash with 5 or 6 of my closest friends.

and isn't this just r-type with a re-textured skin?

I bet you gladly pay $15 for map packs.

$15 for a game, that in the end, will give you a better experience than most $60 games? Absolute steal in my opinion. Sucks to be you.

Ahh the douchey, hipster downloadable gamer. Thinking anything made by a small team is always better than any other effort and worth full value because a small team made it.

Hardly.

Most of the XBLA games that have come out recently that have been 1200 have been far better than the games that came out 1-2 years ago at 800.

1200 is a perfectly fair price for games like Bastion, From Dust, ITSP and last years Summer of Arcade games.

@(Unverified) Just because a game has pretty pictures does not make it worth playing. The way in which you play the game should be engaging as well.

@(Unverified) You can't judge a book by it's cover, "Natural art appreciation" is nice when looking at pictures but when deciding you make a purchase on a game doesn't mean its best.

Favourite game I've played all year so far, downloadable or otherwise. Excellent review!

Now if only we knew when Fez and Journey were to release ... I'm getting antsy!

O man...I've been looking forrward to Fez for a long time. Only issue I'm running into is there are so many great, quality titles, out (and releasing soon) that I'm finding it ultra hard to find the time to play them!

Working my way through Bastion now. This is a pretty strong summer of arcade. Fruit ninja purchases should grant free DLC in Metal Gear Rising. Are you listening MS/Konami?!

Same with me, I saw that trailer almost 2 years ago and have been wanting this game to release ever since. I didn't even know it was kind of like Metroid until recently (though to me it sounds more like Blaster Master than anything) and that just makes me want it even more.

@fohf played the demo and felt I had wasted my time because I could have been playing the full game instead. Definitely has a metroid feel. It's this summer's take on Shadow Complex, which is really a complement to both games because I love them both.

The review reads like it should be 4 and a half stars, but, numerical scores bear little weight with me, it's the review itself I'm more interested.

I, like many others have been waiting for around 2 years for this to materialize, couldn't be happier that i have wednesday off from work!

and to those saying 1200 moon dollars is too much, take this into account, the creators of this started the game in 2006, thats round about 5 YEARS of work, and you can't shell out a measely $15?

I find it fascinating that the last game Michel Gagne had played before he started working on this was Doom or Doom 2. His work in films is fantastic, and he has said now movies seem to pale in comparison to games due to the creative possibilities and interactivity games offer. I can only hope that means his art will make it into more games, just hope they don't take as long to surface.

They actually licensed the orchestral parts of some Dimmu Borgir, which are used for the cinematic scenes. No black metal vocals though :(

$15 is not enough for this game.

Not to be a hater (I have all 3 consoles), but I doubt this is ever coming to PSN, since the game is published by MS Game Studios.

Just an FYI to the people who might have missed this fact and were hoping otherwise.

No mention of the 4 player co-op/competative mode (offline and over LIVE).

The gameplay and pacing in the Lantern Run mode is my favorite, and definitely helps make the 1200 points feel even more worth it.

I loved this game but I hated the amount of pseudo=intelectuals trying to convert the dumb-haters.

Let the consumers play what they want, goddamit, you´re making me confused as a game designer and developer. What do you expect me to do, a tripleA game with a enorumous budget but developed as a indie game by 2 people, but it is a FPS but it´s not and it has black sillhouetes of aliens shooting at realistic COD soldiers?
