Having a game delayed for more time to work on it is always good from what i've seen L.A Norie looked really good from after being worked on for so long(idk if it was delayed though)

@StormChaser91

The flipside of your example being Gran Turismo 5 and Duke Nukem Forever, games that didn't quite live up to their long dev cycles.

@Gibbeynator
I'm convinced Kaz Yamauchi(Polyphony Digital) purposely did that to waste company funds "playing" with cars and proceeding with his own intentions(or delusions of grandeur)of becoming a professional racer, haha. Especially after his visits to Nürburgring! ;D Makes me wonder if the FORZA crew spent nearly as long.

The answer is no(and their game has quite a bit of features too!).

@Faceless Troll No one said that, there are a bunch of games that sold well and was utter crap. But it just goes to show you that a name on it's own can sell units.

It's nice that they're making these improvements & edits, but the delay puts them in a rough spot though, due to all the other late year games incoming. Especially on X360...

@Ebok007 Problem is that ME3 also comes out during Q1 2012 and I know which one of the two I'll be getting.

They do have tough competition this holiday season...the only problem with Q1 next year is that mass effect 3 is going to released so...tough choice there on their part.

@StormChaser91 lol that's a totally different Genre...no? Just considering that it's an action RPG and so is Mass Effect 3. People who have never heard of the witcher franchise, may not invest their money in buying it and go for something they have heard of and are familiar with like Mass Effect.

If they released it q4 2011 they would have to compete with skyrim anyways.

Well good on them for wanting to polish up the game, to give the best experience. It also helps to because with the blockbuster releases this holiday season they don't want to get short changed.The only problem with a delay to Q1 is that they will have big shoes to fill with Mass Effect 3 coming out in Q1

Oh no, I was really looking forward to this coming out this year.
Hmm, I guess I'll have to play all the other mediocre games coming out this year while waiting.

BF3, Deus Ex, MW3, Batman Arkham City etc....
Bad year for gaming gone worse...

I've already got my Q4 games picked out so unless it was coming out this month, I wasn't going to get it until next year anyway. At least this way, I'll probably end up paying full price for it.

Man, this is really disappointing. This one going to be one of the few killer apps on 360 this year, and now we have to wait even longer. Bad news bears, I guess...

On the bright side though, this gives them more time improve the game, and hey- maybe they'll even include that forthcoming DLC with the finalized 360 version? That's one less DLC pack we'd have to pay for, right?

Still going to buy this game- anticipating it much, much more than Mass Effect 3.

@aconrad777

Actually, they said that all PC DLC would be free. Not sure if the same would apply for the 360 version, due to policy reasons by Microsoft.

It's why I've never seen a piece of free DLC from any game on the 360 (I assume MS charges a fee to post and sell DLCs on the market place).

There is a good chance people will be looking for something to play after their Skyrim high, and if the Witcher 2 is new at the time it might fill that void.

That's a shame. It's a really good game. I'm having a lot of fun playing this one on PC. I wonder how they'll handle some of the more X-rated type of material.

@Bentzero - Well, unless the game got an AO rating from the ESRB (which I'm sure it didn't), there will be nothing to handle has far as the content.

Smart move on their part...Skyrim isn't a good choice to go against...Release this about a month or so before ME3 or a month after and you will be doing strong business.

Good to know they're taking their time on it, or is it because it's original release date would have been marred by Skyrim?

I am glad it's coming in Q1, my wallet can breathe a bit before then!
