If your canned response to being offered a new computer game is "Meh, I'll wait for the Steam sale," you're going to love this. Humble Indie Bundle 3, which already allows you to act with severe frugality, now throws in Humble Indie Bundle 2 when you pay more than the average price ($4.97 at time of publishing), or if you already bought it before 10:30AM PST this morning.
It seems the new metric for measuring interest is "Meh, I'll wait until there's another bundle in it."
This latest mutation contains, in addition to six cool indie games (like Crayon Physics Deluxe, And Yet it Moves and VVVVVV), the full Bundle 2 set: Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos and Revenge of the Titans.
Well, maybe it's not quite the full Humble Indie Bundle 2 as it was. It was later expanded to include ... Humble Indie Bundle 1. Think of that as a warning: At some point, your penny pinching and love for recursion will intersect inside one of these bundles.
[Thanks, Grant.]

Steam - why did you make me buy Machinarium today through a coincidentally-placed daily deal offer, when I could have got it for no extra cost through this offer?
But, hey - at least Machinarium's developer(s) is/are getting (a) pay tip(s) from me. He/she/they deserve(s) it for making such an awesome game, after all!

I have to buy this, don't I? I don't even play PC games (integrated intel graphics 'card') but I can't pass this up!

If we buy this bundle and activate the games on steam, do the ones we already have become available to gift to people?

You can only use the steam keys once, but after you use them you can still download DRM-free copies of the games from the link that Humble Bundle emails you

I paid just under the $5.00 amount and I purchased it last week. I'm not seeing the 2nd Bundle populate on my steam. Do I have to purchase it again? I somehow managed to miss the 2nd bundle and really want it.

@Calatia Worked! Thanks! So so happy! I re-recommended HB3 again to all my friends.

The previous Joystiq article encouraged me to get the HI#3, even though I rarely play computer games. I'm glad I bought it then because now I get some more free games.

Wait..so if we already bought the 2nd one do we get the games from the 3rd one?

Oops, I meant if we have the 3rd one already, do we still get the games from the 2nd?

Nice to see they finally found a way to get people to stop buying the pack for $0.01
I mean, look at that, $100,000 increase in the last 2 hours and only 5,000 more unique purchases.
Sad you gotta entice people to do the right thing for a good cause.

If you already bought HIB3 before 10:30am this morning, even for $0.01, you still got a HIB2 Steam Key.

So very kind of them to award some of us that contributed more than the average. I personally felt like the deal was easily worth $20, so that's what I gave them. No good deed goes unpunished :D

I love everything this system is, charity, DRM free, steam compatible and Paypal supportive to boot.
Most of all I like how there is no maximum amount you can pay for the games, I wish I could do that for older games I keep coming back to. I would love to pay full price for Smash Bros Melee again considering how many hours Ive gotten out of it. There are also I few games I bought used that I would now like to support.

I guess Cortex Command isn't on steam? DL link only. Still an awesome deal, and you still get the game, just not on steam.

How about you guys fix the second bundle people already bought to get all their games from it? I got mine as a Steam code and have since deleted the email. Braid, Osmos and Machinarium are there, but Cortex Command and Revenge of the Titans never came through like they claimed they would.

Cortex Command isn't released yet. It's currently in a Minecraftesque stage of open alpha. But supposedly it'll get automatically added when/if the game ever gets a Steam release.
Revenge of the Titans did eventually show up for me when the game was released on Steam after I bought Bundle 2. I'm sure it's a glitch and it should work out.

Email the support listed on the bottom of the page. I couldn't find my HIB2 Steam Key email and they emailed back within the hour. I used the HIB2 Transaction ID from my Paypal history.

My problem is from all three bundles, there is only 1 or 2 games I am interested in. And when you register them on Steam, you get all of them on your account. So I would have, say 4 games maybe total I want, and 11 I don't. I wish they would come with individual codes, or let us pick from each pack, and make our own up to 5.
Posted: Aug 3rd 2011 11:54PM GordoJones88 said
You can set your Steam Library to 'installed games' or create a new category for 'uninstalled games', or you can call Steam support and they will remove any unwanted games you don't want in your library, permanently.
But you can't complain about getting only 1 or 2 good games per bundle, for a penny or a dollar, a problem ;)

Pay for indie games? Yeah right. They'd have to pay me just to consider looking at it.
Posted: Aug 4th 2011 9:08AM laserboyjc said
@Mastadon Because it cost them no effort at all to make the games right? You're missing out if you don't try some indie games here and there. Some stuff is lousy, but there really are great games out there...I need to spend more time finding them myself.
