Batman: Arkham City's Penguin voiced by Nolan North (seriously)

Clearly flexing his vocal chops, voice actor Nolan North is the man behind Batman: Arkham City's most aquatic villain: The Penguin. Rocksteady marketing game manager Dax Ginn revealed as much in an interview with CVG, breaking down the various villains you'll be pummeling as Bats come October.

As seen in the trailer above, North's voice acting clearly stretches beyond his most well-known role as pretty-boy adventurer Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series. It could be argued that he's already proven that, given his voice acting contributions to, like, every game ever, but we're pretty impressed with the whole Penguin gig.

I was offered the role of Link for Skyward Sword, but the actress for Zelda couldn't get over the grunts I was making, so we felt it was best to give the role back to the last guy.

Does penguin have the bottom of a soda bottle as a monocle?

It's been announced that Nolan North will provide the voice acting for Skyrim, for all races, genders and characters.

He will also voice the dragons, the narrator and make the whooshing sound-effects when you swing your sword.

I swear, Nolan North and Steve Blum must be two of the most requested voice actors in video game history. Granted, I love them both, but I know Blum's voice for one is in almost every game nowadays.

That man must be SUPER-busy.

Steve Blum has no range? Did you ever watch Digimon, Naruto, or Gurren Lagann? He voices Guilmon, Orochimaru, and Leeron respectively. Listen to that and then say there is no range whatsoever.

It's a decent East End London accent, but he overdoes the 'Oi' for 'I'. No one ever sounded like that, not even in Dickens (where this Penguin seems to be from). But if it wasn't for that, wouldn't be able to tell it was an American doing it. He definitely sounds English and not Australian, which Americans traditionally have trouble telling apart, much to the annoyance of both Brith and Australians who don't think they sound alike at all.

Being British in the US, I totally get the Aussie/Brit confusion, and yes, it's annoying as hell. Nolan seems to be doing a decent job, but a few of his words do come off as Aussie-laden.

My question, why not hire someone who is British? I mean, this guy's getting a lot of work, couldn't someone else get a go?

I haven't noticed him sounding different in anything I've played, but maybe I just wasn't playing the right stuff. Plus I can't watch the video at work, so wow me later North.

Is it just me or does he sound an awful lot like Badger from FIrefly? This combined with Drake basically being Mal makes me think that Nolan is grabbing his ideas from a very specific place.

Nolan also did the voices for the three corrupted cores in Portal 2.

He's got more than just the laid-back Drake-talk.
