Dishonored screens may light your fire, definitely light a guy on fire

Dishonored, the latest game from the crew at Arkane, and the first to be published by its new corporate overlords at Bethesda, still has that new game smell. Take this screenshot above, for example: Did you realize that this "retro-futuristic" world, based on 1666 London and powered by whale oil, had leggy robot flamethrowers? Strange, that new game smells kinda smells like burning.

This warranted an article...?

@mlg rules How is my comment unwarranted? The article serves no purpose other than to introduce people to the game's flame-spewing robots, and nothing else. By realizing this, and commenting on it, I'm basically saying "Why does this need to be an article? Shouldn't more important things be posted?". So no, my comment is not unwarranted. However, oddly enough, your comment is.
Don't try so hard to be witty. It clearly does not fit you.

@Ellimem
What does this have to do with being "kept in the loop"? Is it so much to ask that a posted article actually contain something worth reading? Why don't they post something like a trailer, concept art, a dev diary, anything like that? And if they don't have anything, they shouldn't post until there IS something worth talking about. That is such a ridiculous point of view for you to have. Knowing that the game has "fire-spewing robots" is as about as integral to my knowledge of the game as knowing that the next Mario title will have Bowser.
Sorry for actually wanting some substance in what I read.

@MW4560 what's the problem here, man? they're screenshots, as far as i can tell they've just been released. This is the first i've even heard of the game and now i'm interested, i'd definetly say this was worthy of being posted.

@TomeOne Wow, you people seriously need to calm down. All I said was that this kind of thing didn't really warrant an article- they don't tell us anything about the game, they just showed us a few screenshots of something that doesn't really matter. Now you're telling me to leave the site and calling me a douchebag? Lol. Really mature.

I'm guessing you didn't even look at the pics? There's more there than robots burning humans, which BTW - we don't know when that happened. The rest of the shots were of different environments.
This post got me a bit more interested in the game. and not because of the robots.

Those legbots look a bit modern... When I heard all of the technology in this game was powered by whale oil, I imagined a much more steampunk aesthetic- boilers and pipes and valves and such.
I hope the rest of the whale-tech doesn't look this generic.

@Chareth Cutestory Are you saying Half Life 2's character design was boring? Anyway, I like the anachronism of this ip. I'm getting kinda sick of the cookie cutter steampunk aesthetic, which usually looks like like some hotglued a bunch of brass hose nozzles to a gun/robot. (Please don't let this stop someone from making a sequel/reboot to arcanum. Please.)

looks pretty cool, Bethesda do tend to bring out pretty good games so ill be looking forward to more news on this.
And surely if you thought this shouldn't of been an article you shouldn't of looked at it in the first place lol just scroll down and look at other stuff, some people are just brainless.

The Game Informer article about a month ago on this has me very hyped. I hope this will live up to all the potential it truly has.

At first glance I thought this was HL2 EP3 or HL3, then once I read that it had nothing to do with half-life at all, I think I died a little inside.
Disappointed a bit, but whatever this game is, it does look pretty nice and artsy.
Curious though, what type of game is this? An FPS?

On the plus side, that guy on fire cannot be grabbed by ninjas.

The clothes look like a much later period than 1666. So does the architecture. Possible 1866? The fifth pic shows a guy wearing what looks like a German Bizmarck era helmet.
Still, looks interesting.

Only the presence of Viktor Antonov in the art development of the game makes it a must buy
