Nintendo celebrates Zelda's 25th with new website
35
To celebrate 25 years of Octorok abuse, Nintendo has launched a commemorative website. The Zelda 25th Anniversary site is home to a mess of goodies aimed at your nostalgia core, including an interactive history of the series, some wallpapers and a video of the 2011 E3 keynote where a live symphony played music from the games.
For you more artistic types, Nintendo is also asking for your Zelda-themed Flipnote Studios animations, with the best entries receiving top billing on the Zelda 25th site. You can also send in a paper drawing, if you prefer, but we don't know if that'll actually make it onto the site. Flipnote Studios, as you may recall, is available as a free download on the DSi and DSi XL. Nintendo will take submissions from now on through September 9.
The 25th Anniversary site is live right now, so click over if you're looking to take a trip down memory lane. Or, if you're like us and have had enough, feel free to sign our petition. If we don't help the Octorok, who will?!

I suppose it's the thought that counts, but I've had my heart set on remake of the original Legend of Zelda.

Nice.
Now maybe sometime in the 'next' 25 years, you can give me a game starring this guy:

It'd be a great way of marketing the game to the pensioner generation

Must be keeping the series' timeline for the 30th anniversary site.

You mean that one that they've kept "hidden" all this time? I'm guessing they have only made a crack in it. They probably have plenty of versions of it but
I don't think they have one that they'd release as the official timeline.

@Captaindrek1 - Apparently, Eiji has said they have one, which they refer to when planning a new Zelda game's placement in the timeline.
Of course, this could all be horseshit just to quell a fan uprise demanding an official timeline.

Why Nintendo isn't celebrating Metroid's 25th anniversary like this? I don't know why they're pretty much ignoring it.

Glad to know they're also celebrating Metroid's anniversary with a concert tour and remake of Super MetrWHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY AREN'T?

Maybe they aren't celebrating Metroid's birthday because people don't buy Metroid games anymore, and there's no Metroid game coming out for the Wii this holiday season.

Maybe they aren't celebrating Metroid's anniversary because the last one was an embarrassment?

I remember that old Zelda commercial with a guy in a black leotard running around saying 'Zelda!'. Was that 25 years ago??

The Triforce Emblem glows on my upper arm! ZELDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for Metroid, wondering what Ninty is doing, but I have a hunch...maybe they are saving it for next year, as Metroid came to the states in 87. Metroid has a bigger impact over here in the States than Japan. And Happy Anniversary Metroid!

Lol, I love that all anyone is talking about here is Metroid. But I agree, it's what I came in here to talk about too. Hopefully we do get a celebration for Metroid next year. A Portable Super Metroid really needs to happen.

The last Metroid game to advance the storyline was Fusion, right? Nintendo should make a sequel (with 2d sprites, maybe with a 'pop-out' 3d effect for the sake of using the tech (so we can just turn it off altogether), but no gimmicky gameplay like 'use the gyro to kill the metroid in real 3d space!!') to that as an anniversary celebration. I'd buy it and a 3ds in a heartbeat!

Did anyone notice that on the history section on the site, they don't bother to mention the CDI games?...
I mean, don't get me wrong, i never wish to speak of those again. I'm just glad the even Nintendo won't acknowledge them.
