The scrappy contractors at indie dev N-Space are once again creating the Nintendo DS version of the latest Call of Duty, this time titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance. The DS game -- which we will never again refer to by its full, double-coloned name -- was discussed by Activision Social Media Manager Dan Amrich on his One of Swords site. This marks the fifth CoD-branded project being completed by the stuidio for Activision.
Meanwhile, IGN discovered the "Defiance" subtitle, and spotted an especially interesting note on N-Space's Facebook page that offered a bit of explanation as to why Defiance isn't being made for Nintendo's newest handheld. "You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make," a company representative said. "It is not our call to decide which platforms to support. Obviously we are big 3DS fans and supporters as we have three titles in development."
Defiance will likely arrive around the same time as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, on November 8.

Yeah I hope there is one too. There isn't really a classic shooter for Vita at launch other than rumors of a Killzone in the future. Surprising since it finally has dual sticks. The PSP had lots of shooters which was weird since they all controlled horribly. They must have sold well because they made like 3 Battlefronts and 3 Medal of Honor games. I am disappointed because the Killzone probably will be classic FPS instead of Liberation which is my favorite PSP game.

Dude, that's why I said I hope they make "some type of CoD." I didn't say anything about MW3! But let's examine that further since you brought it up...the PSV actually is coming out this year in Japan. Gamestop even still has it listed as coming out Holiday '11 in North America, but I believe Sony confirmed that the N.American release would be a month or two into 2012. MW3 comes out in November '11. So even if PSV doesn't come out until February '12 that's only a 3 month difference. It could absolutely be done if they wanted to. However, like I said originally, I just hope they make some type of CoD for it because it would be badass!!!

Ok first of all, if you rely on Gamestop for you information, then there must be something wrong with you. Sony stated that they're going to release it early 2012. That can be anywhere in the first & second quarter meaning that we're looking at a release window of January to June. Second, why would Activision have IW's waste time & resources making a game for the PSV when Treyarch can do it with their next game next year. Makes sense right?

Don't worry, guys. With idiots eating up HD collections left and right I'm sure we'll see a "Modern Warfare Saga Super Portable Ops Thermonuclear War Edition" for the Vita by mid-2012.

I feel bad for those guys working on this game. I'm pretty sure it's just a job to them. Developing for the DS even though they can do so much more with the 3DS? Only Activision could make that call.

Not to spark anything by bringing this up,
but I would be intrigued if DICE made a portable Battlfield game (not the iPod/Android game)

So one more 3rd party "Eff you" to 3DS? Great.

You know what's sad? This is coming to the DS and not the 3DS, unless it was a typo or incorrectly stated on the presser. That tells a lot about where a certain publisher thinks that handheld is currently at.

Even sadder is that they may be right.

They're only right in the sense that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So the only website that had anything good to say about Kotick was run by an Activision employeee ( http://oneofswords.com/2010/08/bobby-kotick-those-infamous-comments/ ), no wonder that place had so much praise for CoD.

Ugh. Why can't they at least release a 3DS port that takes advantage of the larger screen and 3D capabilities.
Can't even really play DS games on 3DS because they look stupid.
This is really disappointing news... I hope when the new Mario and Mario Kart titles drop, the 3DS outlook will change for the better.

I played both World at War and Mobilized (the DS version of MW2). I really enjoyed both, n-sapce did a great job making them. If you want a straight up FPS that controls well on the DS there arent many options so kudos for n-space making a really fun fps. I dont think Ill pick up Defiance, but ill definitely pick up the next one they make for 3DS.
