Gargoyle's Quest heading West on 3DS Virtual Console

Gargoyle's Quest, Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins spinoff -- about the flying red devil Firebrand (who you may know as that awful thing that kills you in most Ghosts 'n Goblins games) saving the Ghoul Realm, was one of the first Game Boy games to be released on the 3DS eShop in Japan, a fact of which we have been super jealous for quite some time.

The side-scrolling platformer/RPG is headed to the west -- at least, it's headed to Australia, according to a rating in that country. It's safe to assume that if it shows up on Virtual Console there, it will in the rest of the world as well. There are no localization barriers in this case: Gargoyle's Quest came out on Game Boy in North America back in 1990.

I assume there was some kind of fireball there before... but just swapping it out doesn't really work like this.

I mean, there IS a guy with horns right there... easily replaceable horns...

Nope, seeing how this is a Game Boy game and the games of the Ambassador program consist of NES and GBA games.

On-topic: Cool. I loved Demon's Crest on the SNES when I was a kid and still do. I've never had a chance to play the prequel, so I might buy it once it's out...

Does reading the name Gargoyle's Quest take anyone back to the days of thumbing through strategy guides and just kind of imaging about playing games through that?

Because nobody actually played Kid Dracula or Gargoyle's Quest, but we've all seen the password screens.

Now when anyone looks at UMvC3 and asks who Firebrand is, people can point to this game.

I want people to know, I had no idea what this hand thing everyone kept talking about was as I went down the articles.

My mind exploded.

My brother is always going on about how great this game is, this is a great opportunity to play it.

I played the crap out of this game when I was a kid. Loved getting the power-up that let me fly for longer distances.

As great as this game is I'd love it if they'd release some ORIGINAL 3ds games.

YES! I still have the original GB game of this, but it needs lots of blowing to make it work now :( so this has me extra excited, I love this game, I played all of them religiously when I was younger.

I remember playing this as a kid and wondering if it had something to do with the animated Gargoyles TV show.

I played the crap out of this when I was a kid ,but I doubt it still holds up now.

Loved this game on the GB, then on the NES... and finally on the SNES (Even tho that last one lost its RPG elements). This could use some kinda sequel, actually...

I played this game so much back in the day. I hope we get it in North America. No idea if my old cartridge still works.

I owned this on Gameboy, I remember it being tricky and I probably didn't progress very far. I would consider buying it at $2.99 just to use up my damn Nintendo money balance.

Demon's Crest on SNES was the shiznit. One of the best all-time SNES games, for sure.

US release, please!!!

That was one of the first GameBoy games. I bought a used copy, some
time ago, and would buy a digital one, if it came to the US.
