We're still not sure what drives players to submit themselves to the psychological assault of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Whatever it is, it seems to affect quite a few gamers, as Frictional Games' Thomas Grip revealed at GDC Europe that the survival horror title has sold 400,000 copies.
It's a significantly higher number than last January, when Frictional reported sales were nearing 200,000, which already handily surpassed the company's "dream estimates" of 100,000 copies. In short, that's a lot of dudes screaming like little babies.

Where is the Xbox port???

I do remember reading a while back about a possible 360 port, but i guess plans never took off.
Imagine playing this game with Kinect though, would be intense. Pushing doors open, manually lighting torches etc.

That is wonderful news! I would have ever expected the game to do that well. So can we expect another game soon?

well this be ported to consoles?

@chrono It's always seemed to me like a console port wouldn't work because of the control scheme. But I would be really interested to seem them do a console version.

These guys deserve every sale they make.

It's a testament to how scary the game is that I didn't want to buy it... I guess that's a double-edged sword for Frictional.

Only 400,000? NOT ENOUGH I SAY!
Amnesia is the only game to have ever made me whimper with fear. It is a fantastic game and I recommend it to anyone... In small doses :D

Well considering its such an unpleasant game to play, i would say 400k is an impressive feat then.

Great game, deservers every one of those sales. Actually a bit surprised that it didn't do even better considering how well received it was and how people talk about it.

My PC sucks for gaming too. They'd sell a ton on XBLA and PSN.

Not natively. I've heard legends of people playing Amnesia with a gamepad, but I believe in them as much as I believe in ghosts.
Seriously, it's next to impossible to set up due to all of the manual mouse commands (opening doors, turning cranks, etc).

I'd like to play a PS3 Move port. You could open the doors and pick up stuff with your right hand and move with your left. It would feel more immersive.

Fantastic game and EASILY one of the scariest I have ever played. I could only hope for you with PC's that can't run this to someday get a port to the consoles. This game deserves everyone's attention.

I really need to play this, but I've virtually abandoned my PC as a gaming platform. Yeah, my fault not the developers, but still.

Been a big fan of these guys since the 2006 Penumbra tech demo and Amnesia was great (though some later puzzles were ridiculous)
I have nothing against FPS, but these guys know the key to making a game scary - not being able to fight back. Once you've played through this, Dead Space, Fear, etc are just shooters.
