I hope to GOD that Capy fixes the balance issues. Varkas needs a serious nerfing.

Either way, this is exciting news.

@Gillium You know, I've played online quite a bit, and I've never had any issues with Varkas at all.

If you play without artifacts, the elves are the most overpowered in my opinion, especially if you get to go first. Anything that attacks in 1 turn is godly, the walls regenerate HP, and both the dragon and the tree are VERY good units (the dragon is a bit better IMO since you get free attacks afterwards. Plus the arrow ability is 49 damage if it hits clean.

If you can use artifacts, then it's tricky because of all the artifacts that can bring you back to life. Obviously the Spider Cloak (undead, +75% damage, -75% life) with 3 skeletons and Death Knight is the way most people go, since it's so overpowered. But there's one the demons get that's almost as good...it brings you back to life when you die AND launches all your charging attacks at full power. So you can ignore a big attack and put your units elsewhere, knowing they will attack after you die.

The elves are really the thing I hate the most though. The dragon is overpowered. Attacks in 4 turns, and the acid is ridiculous. And 1 attack speed archers are too much.

I agree that the dragon-plus-archer strategy is a bit overpowered.

Personally, I find artifacts a nuisance more than anything. I play only non-artifact, timed games.

I'd like to play against you, with me as Varkas and you and any other character, to test out my theory. When played a certain way, Varkas wins almost every time.

I play on PS3 and I'm not opposed to buying the Steam version. PM me if you wanna play.

Sorry, that should read:

"with me as Varkas and you as any other character"

If you ask me, this seems rather desperate. What's the fun in parking in one place for four turns watching a puke ball charge up? The boss fights in CoH sure are fun, but PLAYING a boss ain't

I have to agree with that sentiment, unless the boss characters end up playing more like a variant on the many story characters, with their own unique troops. That could be cool but honestly I would be way more excited for a side story with unique quest to complement the campaign. I have yet to even try multiplayer mode.
