Electro-monster Cole from Infamous 2 is now an electro-vampire in Infamous 2: Festival of Blood, available on PSN this October. In this downloadable game, New Marais is infested by vampires. Cole is bitten, and must find the head vampire before the night ends, to reverse his condition. Does electricity hurt vampires? We'll find out, we suppose. Also, can you make a vampire game set in Louisiana and avoid comparisons to both Interview with the Vampire and True Blood? This post has already proven that you cannot.
This was called a "brand new game available for download," which sounds more like a standalone PSN game than DLC.
Update: The PlayStation Blog confirms that you don't need any other Infamous games to play this. It also posted the above trailer.
@Ramen of Doom Yeah, no joke. I was pretty bored with the whole press conference until this. Trailer starts and I'm like, "Huh. That game looks kind of like inFAMOUS 2. Wait a second. WHOAAAA!"
I think I need to see more of it, find out how long it is and the price and whatnot, but I'm pretty excited so far. I loved inFAMOUS 2.
So I don't need the disc, right? I literally just sold it two days ago but I do want to play this. Hope he gets some cool new powers this time around. Most of the ones in the main game got a little unimaginitive after the first upgrade or so.
Except for the ice-jump. God I loved that ice-jump.
I'm a huge fan of the InFamous games, but I'm not so sure about this. I can understand they want to make an all out, over the top, expansion similar to the Zombies pack in RDR, but this? Uhm..
Those of you who finished InFamous 2 knows how ballsy the ending was, at least the Good Karma ending that I finished. I loved the ending, but I immediately knew that they had to be careful about how they approach the franchise after that. I will most likely play it and enjoy it, but I hope this doesn't mess up the story that ended so brilliantly well in Infamous 2....
@Digital Viking Having completed both endings, they can really do anything they want... evil could get a sequel, but good would obviously require a new spin (new character but then it's not the same game...). I anticipate this is going to be an alternate reality spin off, rather than a sequel as such. As great as the story was in Infamous 1 and 2 (and it was shockingly good for this type of game) I loved them for the game play. They could cut out all the story and I'm still sold. They tied it up nicely, I'm happy to let them have some fun with it now.
@ima 747 Yepp. Thanks for not spoiling anything specific from the Evil ending, as I'm saving that for later :p
I really hope they're using this opportunity to make a short InFamous game that has no limits. If you start up with all powers, amp it up a bit, and have the whole city in chaos, burning and shit, then there's potential!
I will probably buy this and enjoy it, my only concern was for the story. I hope this is more of a "filler" story, and does not lead to anything else.
Obviously you cared more about the story than Sucker Punch did considering after the credits, they basically hit the reset button on the end of the game, thereby nullifying the "Good" decision (the choice of which was also pretty shoddily presented "Press 1 to continue down the same path you've been on for the past 15 hours, press 2 to completely betray everything you've worked for up to this point for the sake of convenience")
Honestly, they had me up until that point. Eh, still better than inFAMOUS 1.
@blessrok GOOD ENDING SPOILERS: I've played through the good ending, and I know that there is always a way to continue the series if they want to. It was just a question of whether they would get a new hero, or how they would revive him. I suspected that the evil ending wouldn't end in the same way, and I noticed the giant question mark right before the credits rolled. Is there something else I missed or forgot about? Is there anything after the credits?
@KenobiEagle Makes more sense then Undead Nightmare. Honestly, why couldn't you have a conduit with vampire like powers? The way Cole leeches people is already vampire-ish.
MAN! This will probably go down as one of the best years for gaming! PSN for this year: Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Eufloria, Journey, Papo & Yo, and inFAMOUS 2 Festival of Blood. PS3 for this year: Resistance 3, Dead Island, FIFA 12, Ico collection, Dark Souls, Ratchet & Clank All 4 One, Batman, Battlefield 3, U3, MGS Collection, Skyrim, ACR, and Saints Row. Oh man how i wish i was rich.
Good idea. Way to not tie the game into existing sales of the game and fragment the audience by making it a standalone entry. I may check this out after I see the price. I guess I'm expecting $15?
The original game needed a lot more night time missions. I played a night-time UGC where Cole had to find a serial killer, and the night life and lights suited the mood perfectly. Can't wait to play this.
