Wow- does anyone else get a "Clockwork Knight" vibe from this game? that was one of my favorites on the old Sega Saturn :)
the visuals and gameplay totally remind me of that game, and even the knight reminds me of Pepperouchau (the main character) from that old game. i'm excited for this one, now. i LOVE Grasshopper!

Way to go Grasshooper! I'm not being a smartass, but why do they reuse assets from Shadows of the Damned? The whole game looks like the 4th act, instead of flying you're jumping around. They even brought back strawberries.

@darkhellmutt

I noticed that too. Maybe it was intended as a side story to Shadows of the Damned originally (before the sales figures came out.) Even the sound cues sound recycled.

I'm definitely interested. I wonder if the creator mentioned this being like "kamishibai" and I missed it, which was Japanese paper theater from the 1930's.

Here's a description from the summary of a book I own on it.

"During the height of kamishibai in the 1930s, storytellers would travel to villages and set up their butais (miniature wooden prosceniums), through which illustrated boards were shown. The storytellers acted as entertainers and reporters, narrating tales that ranged from action-packed westerns, period pieces, traditional folk tales, and melodramas, to nightly news reporting on World War II. More than just explaining the pictures, a good storyteller would act out the parts of each character with different voices and facial expressions."

So basically, story-teller artists with carts that made their living pretty much selling sweets in conjunction with this.

Also, I'd never heard of Clockwork Knight before this! That also looks amazing.

Looks pretty cool. I assume they used primary colors on the doors to make it stand out, but it seems a bit off from the general art style, imo.

God damn, looks like Grasshopper is trying to unseat Level 5 for "most prolific independent developer" these past couple years.
