Ubisoft goes for money, money, money with Abba dancing game

Ubi, meet Abba. Ubisoft is adding to its expansive slate of dance games, currently home to star power like Michael Jackson, The Black Eyed Peas and The Smurfs, with Abba: You Can Dance, out in Europe before Christmas.

MCV has few details on this game except that it's on Wii, but having seen every other Ubisoft dance game, we can safely assume it'll feature glowing silhouette characters on-screen, whose movements you have to match with Wiimote motions. This time, we suppose, the silhouettes will be Swedish.

Y'know what? This is actually pretty cool.

..........sue me, I'm an old bastard and I kinda grew up listening to ABBA tapes my parents played. (Plus, well, there's something you all don't know that makes all of that absolutely hilarious...)

Also, did you know? ABBA released the first commercially-recorded CD, "The Visitors", on August 17th, 1982. The first CD *player* was sold seven weeks later and cost $900.

Liking Abba is one thing (I personally don't get it, but whatever,) but there's no denying that this game is going to be terrible.

I have nothing against ABBA, but really -- it seems a bit "late" to try something like this, especially since THE BEATLES ROCK BAND and all the other GUITAR HERO Band themed sets seemed to gross average sales.

Abba is still very popular, honestly. Recent years raised that again due to that musical featuring their music.

Might not appeal to someone buying Black Eyed Peas dancing games, but I imagine this will do well enough.

Abba is one of the best selling musical artists. In the top 5 I believe (behind Elvis, the Beatles, and queen). Don't quote me on it though.

They are still very popular, so it will sell.

Sorry about that. It's just that Dancing Queen has become a bit of an inside joke between some of my friends and I and over time I've picked up the lyrics....

For such a great song that sure is a boring album cover.

Sounds like ABBAs manager is really trying to get them out there 30 years after they were popular.
