I really hope this happens. My friends aren't the type to log into a game specifically the meet up and play it with people, but if they're already on XBL and in a party it will be easy to get them to jump over.

Blizzard wants to allow every player out there to experience the awesomeness of paying to win...

well if they have been "investigating" and "researching" it for a year, I'm pretty sure they actually see some potential, and I mean gameplaywise. We all know Diablo is a clickety click game, so porting it on a console requires a completely different way to play the game, therefor the difficulty to port it, but hopes are high they are finding the way to play it on consoles

I'm totally ok with this as long as the consoles have to be constantly logged onto the internet too.

What's that, they won't?

****ers.

I know I'm gonna get seriously downvoted for this, but would an MMO like this work on *gasp* OnLive?

It's not an mmo. But it does force you to be online like an mmo.

Wonder if it'll be as easy to dupe gold as the original on PS1.

1) play for a while with 2 characters
2) do a co-op game
3) give gold to one character
4) drop newly bankrupt character without saving
5) load 2nd character again
6) go to step 3

It's a shame gold was useless in Diablo.

I am extremely happy about this. I'm not a PC gamer, but I spent most of highschool playing Diablo 2 back in the day. Frankly, I wasn't planning on getting the game since it was looking like a PC-only release, but now that its coming to consoles, I'm definitely going to get this.

I can understand why PC enthusiasts are mad- after all, if you spend time on a console version it detracts time from a PC version (most likely)- but frankly, I'd say they can suck it. Consoles have always provided me with the absolute best gaming experience, and I plan on sticking with them, because they are just a better platform for gaming. Now, realizing this, Blizzard has done the correct thing and all-but-officially announced the game for them. Well done.

This news brings me much joy.

Diablo 3 is in development for PC, according to the article, they are hiring others to develop the Console version. I don't see why this would detract from the PC experience.

@Morisato Uh, let's think about this for a minute... If you're developing for three platforms instead of one, don't you think the final product has a chance of being lower quality than if you are developing for only a single platform? If you focus on one platform, it'll be optimized. If you have to develop for three, you'll have to cut certain corners to make release dates and such. That's kind of why all the PC fans here are upset, dude.

Diablo III is just about to enter public beta phase. The process of porting to consoles is only still being explored. It will have no impact.

There are few things I enjoy less than using a keyboard and mouse to play games. To me, Diablo makes way more sense on a controller than it does on KB+M. You run around and click things to death; movement and attacking are both much easier on a pad.

They've been doing these types of games on consoles since the Dark Alliance games (hell Snowblind has built their studio on them) and they've always been great. The online play is always lacking though; if Blizzard could get that right, they'd be set.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but why doesn't Blizzard just hire the Torchlight devs to help them adapt Diablo 3 to the consoles? They're already familiar with porting that type of game from PC to 360/PS3.

Terrific news for all gamers.

I for one will get it on the pc. It's more of a game I'd rather play on the pc.

Of course they want consoles in on the distinct opportunity to get in now while on the ground floor of money making opportunities!

Would be hilarious if ActiBlizz was busted for pyramid scheme : )

Don't forget to kiss the ring your master Gorden Geko before you are allowed to login to Diablo 3.

Diablo 1 on PSX sucked and Starcraft 64 on the N64 also sucked.
Why are you doing this, Blizzard?!

@Sage009

Yet Torchlight was awesome and enjoyed it's greatest single day sales when it hit XBLA. Torchlight shows a game of that type can work very well and can be very profitable on consoles. That's why.

I don't care if it does turn out to be a sh1tty console version, it's better than nothing! I loved Diablo and was annoyed when the consoles never got the sequel. I loved Sacred 2 and didn't care that the PC fanboys called it a sh1tty console version, I liked it and it gave me over 400 hours of play, same with every RPG and top down RPG that the console get given. Untill I can afford a powerful enough PC to play what they get in the comfort that the console gives me then I will have to settle with what I can get, I suppose beggers cannot be choosers, Oliver asked for more and so will I.

I'd rather an original spin off game than a D3 port, seeing as I have a PC to play it. Either one is fine, if I can buy it on PS3 as well and own up some PS3 friends it's just as good.

If they can make this work fluidly with a controller, I can see how a action rpg like Diablo could be pretty fun on the console.

I'd buy it, but I dunno how long I could hold out after the PC version came out.

This explains why they've dumbed down the game and took out talent trees.

Oh please. The game has been in the works for years. And let's not pretend talent trees are actually complicated. Diablo II's specifically were very simple.
