Console discrimination bums me out. I personally feel that all third-party games should sit on all capable current-gen consoles. Give the Xbox users their Dark Souls! Let the 360/PS3 fans get schooled by a game together! Not as fanboys, but as gamers!

Why even bother commenting on this game if you don't like it?
Also, the fact that you rage-quit Demon's Souls at the beginning, means you didn't get to experience the greatness that was the entire game.
You're probably one of those people who said it was the worst game ever purely because it isn't like 90% of mainstream games where you have the one-button-insta-win element.
My rage toward this guy aside, I can not wait to get killed 1,000 times by this game, only to feel like an absolute pro when I finish it.

I quite enjoyed getting my ass kicked. Reminded me of the good ole days of gaming where I threw my controller in rage at an ACTUALLY difficult and skill-required game.
Not to say games these days aren't a blast, but they are definitely more forgiving, so no one embraces a loss anymore, they just quit and return the game to the store.

I so want this.
Whats more, I want others to want this as much as I do, just to enrich the online mode more.

as far as I know, deprived starts off wearing just a loin cloth, wooden club, wooden shield.
should make the beginning very interesting, lol

I love the game, but got really bored after experiencing the main game. I saw upgrading the best weapons to be a waste of time. I don't see how people can platinum this game multiple times.

I didn't see the obsessive need to play the game that many times, but to each their own...
I wish I actually had that much free time to mess around with the world tendency; I hear I'm still missing out on alot of great boss battles. And the PvP as well.

It's a shame that they can't put in an easier difficulty setting.
I'm an adult, I work, I date, I go out with friends, I have chores and other hobbies. I just don't have the time to devote to becoming good at a video game. I owned the first one and played it a lot but I barely got into it because I kept dying. why would I buy the sequel?

It doesn't take any longer to complete than any other video game. It is broken down into levels and sublevels, easy to put down and come back to. Dying is a learning experience. Learn what killed you, go back and become stronger.

@eat it - maybe as a consumer product it could offer those things, but as an interactive/emotional/some might even say artistic experience, it doesn't - the game design is done for a very specific purpose that it does really, really well, and that's something that should be championed.
(Also, what the commenter above me said - it's still broken up into fairly nice chunks)

I never felt Demon's Souls was that difficult once you die 10 times on Boletarien Place 1-1. After that you have most of the combat mechanics nailed, so the only reason you die is if you get sloppy and make simple mistakes. And I HAVE made simple mistakes many a time!

If you don't want to die much, read a guide/walkthrough. You'll ruin many of the surprises in the game (and thus much of what makes this game so good) but at least you'll be able to play through it.

It took me a damn long time to get into it too, but once I got past the 1-2 dragon (which was very trial-and-error), everything else was golden.

Yeah, that's what I did. At least for that 1st level. It was kicking my ass so much and it was disheartening. I didn't want to give up, but I couldn't keep trying and failing so much. So I cheated and watched at a video guide through the level. So glad I did cause it got me to the 1st boss and after that I was hooked.

you're thinking about it as a person who can play regularly. I play games casually. Seriously every game I play, I play on easy. I have no desire to be good at gaming. I just want to experience the world and the story. I would love to be able to remember where I died and what's going to happen at what times but that's not realistic when I can only play a game for an hour every two weeks. My days of gaming hours a day have passed.
I don't see why they can't add an easy option, you can leave it on hard if you want. I mean they are losing a sale because of this.
