Konami media roundup: Silent Hill and so many Metal Gears

Konami's media offerings at Gamescom include a new look at the upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour. After the break, you'll find a gallery full of new screens that are creepy, dark, atmospheric, and dark.

Konami also included new screenshots of all three updated games in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. You can really tell the difference between the graphical capabilities of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 when both have been amplified! There's also new media for Metal Gear Solid 3D, Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, and more.

Oh, and keep an eye out for a surprise guest appearance by Megadeth!

Did Konami say if Peace Walker has online coop?
It seems pretty obvious it should have it but you never know.

@Jawmuncher Also MGS3 got a multiplayer mode with it's subsistence edition. Im guessing MGS3's got axed while Peace walker walked away on harmed.

@powerrangerporno Well MGO was axed because it wasn't popular, Peace Walker never had online co-op, but the co-op was a huge selling point on the game they tried to market. CO-(OPS) or some such.

I'm not really feeling it with the new MGS HD pictures. They look almost the same in terms of the original textures and such

Uh... that's because they ARE the original textures. The point of the HD remakes is not to redraw every texture or even add more polygons, because that'd take forever and no developer would spend the time on it. They take the original assets and render them in a higher resolution. Where the PS2 or PSP rendered at 480p or lower these render at around 720 making things look generally smoother and sharpening visuals not to mention making everything bigger for HD screens.

That'd be all well and good, except Ready at Dawn is completely retexturing God of War HD instead of just doing an upres. That project is very similar to this one. Yeah it's more work but it can be done in a reasonable amount of time. I love Konami, but this is not exactly the most effort they've put into a game (collection).

Konami as a whole, aren't known for completely rebuilding/redoing a game for a re-released collection. My guess? Too expensive with little reward.

Sweet. I can't wait for all these games! As long as Downpour is better than Homecoming, I remain a humble Silent Hill fan.

I'm pretty sure that's the point, I imagine which ever system you started on will be the predominant save as long as you Transfar-In first.

It's hard to portray this with screenshots. I'm sure if they showed ACTUAL 1080p pictures next to the original 480 PS2 screens it'd be like night and day. I don't think I'll ever be able to play an original PS2 game on an HDTV after seeing it re-rendered through emulation.

When I got to the last one, I thought it read Red-X Bullfighters...which sounds way more intriguing than Red Bull X-Fighters.

Is it just me, or does MGS3 3D look worse than the ps2 version?

The textures are the main problem, they are ugly.

At first I was a bit skeptical about the collection, but they looks crystal clear. Definitely giving it a go.
