Portal 2 DLC coming in mid-September

Good news: the Portal 2 DLC hasn't been delayed. Instead of moving it out of its "summer" release window, Valve is releasing the DLC as late in that window as possible. Speaking to Kotaku at Gamescom, Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi said that the DLC, which includes new maps, leaderboards, and challenge modes, will be released in mid-September. That's "still technically summer," he noted.

If you're upset about this DLC arriving later than you expected it to, but still within its stated release window, let us remind you: this is more Portal 2, that Valve is giving you for free. "Thank you" is pretty much the only appropriate response to that.

Besides, it's Valve. Expecting them to release it on time is pretty much outright saying you don't know who Valve are.

Hell, I've mentally changed the release date to October with this news, and I'm pretty sure that's being generous.

I'm just glad that the free dlc isn't the "summer maps contest" or whatever they did.

Did they ever make those maps downloadable through the client? When they first got released I remember you had to download the files separately and put them in your program files or some BS. Too much work for my lazy ass....

Man I picked the perfect time to borrow this from my buddy. It might just be a few more weeks before he gets it back, heh heh heh

I'll have no problem dropping Gears 3 to play some more Portal, but I'm not sure I'll put down SOTC or Ico, dammit Valve move faster!

I still need to get this game.... What? Don't look at me like that!

Fingers crossed for more co-op courses. As much as I Ioved the single player, nothing quite compares to the experience of figuring out a puzzle with a friend. Even failing was a joy because there was someone else there to laugh with you when you screwed up terribly.

Hopefully they'll ratchet up the difficulty a notch too. The biggest problem with Portal games is they end just as the puzzles start getting challenging.

@skullivan The problem there is the stats show only about 6 people in the whole world even looked at the co-op material.

@Dick Socrates wow really? I guess me and the 3 others I played with are more then half the 6 you mentioned. Nah but really I could see it may not of had huge online play numbers. Just nothing as low as 6 ;)

Bear in mind that Valve's DLC has traditionally been somewhat hefty, so you may want to clean out those hard drives to ensure you have enough SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!.
