Gameloft believes all mobile platforms are created equally (as long as they work 14 hours a day, including weekends) and is putting a stop to iOS release segregation, according to Pocket Gamer. Gameloft plans to release all iOS titles universally, without special HD versions for iPad that can come out months after iPhone installments. In some cases Gameloft is bound by licensing to release a separate iPad version, but overall it will continue to release all games at the same time on both devices, a policy it began with April's Order and Chaos Online.
Gameloft's universal release policy could very well become the norm as developers tweak the finer aspects of iPad HD development, a prospect that makes our game-organization compulsions extremely pleased.

Do they plan to make any original titles?

Now if they would stop ripping-off other franchises...

Now we only need to get developers to remember that Android phones exist.

Yeah Android has a bigger user base than iPhone but there is much more money being spent on iPhone applications. I am not trying to flame when I say that iPhone users are at a income above Andriod buyers. I mean people who pluck down $200 for an iPhone probably have more money to spend on apps than the guy who gets the Android free with his new phone plan. Plus there is a lot of young iPhone users who have the time and money to buy iPhone games. An Android phone in 8th grade probably gets you beat up.

@FriedConsole my cousin says otherwise. apparently Iphone people at her school are the stuck-up types, or just the people known to have money while the android users are more standard, which matches what the user base numbers say. I don't understand why devs are not making apps/games on phones for androids FIRST, and often not at all. It's not as BAD as releasing games on computers for Mac ONLY..but it's getting there...Iphone marketshare is dropping monthly by over 1% and same with ipad....doesn't make sense from a finaical standpoint to me..even if you charge less, more sales will mean more money in the end.

@Kougeru Remember that although iOS market share is dropping, device unit sales rise every quarter. Iphone 4 is the best selling smartphone in the US right now. Totally different metric when you consider how many android phones are pumped out at different carriers.
An interesting note is that many developers mention that developing for either platform is about the same. But it takes lots of resources and money to make a great game that will sell. Considering the amount of apps that sell on their respective networks, it's simply safer to develop for the app store first.

That's exactly why that metric isn't useful. It'd be like saying "Kinect has sold more than any one color of the Nintendo DS!" It doesn't really mean anything considering overall the DS has sold more. The Kinect is the only way to get Kinect-action, but you could get a DS phat, DS lite, DSi, DSi XL...

The problem is that android development is kinda like PC development. While there are a ton a PCs out there, not many can play BF3. iPhone development is a lot more like consoles, where you know what your dealing with and you don't have to make your games ambiguous. I have a crappy android phone, and I haven't purchased a single game because of how slow it is. I have messed around on a good one, and it's fast and responsive.
Once the overall standard for Android phones goes up, I think more developers will flock to it. iPhone development is a bear (speaking from experience).

I love that universal means iPhone and iPad.
I've given up on Android as a gaming platform. (Truth be told, I've given up on it as a phone platform too. Totally sucks!)

Android's apps aren't cool as iPhone's but I still will stick to my Android for the keyboard. Touchscreen keyboards are crap.

@Gooblechev I respect your opinion but I don't see how the entire platform sucks. Unlike Iphones nearly every type of android phone is pretty different and have different problems/perks...you might've just had a crappy model or something..idk you didn't list any specifics but I've never met a single iphone user who didn't complain about SOMETHING but I've met dozens of content android users, and a lot of people that switched from iphone to android and never looked back.

@Knives Chau I'm not keen on the iOS platform as the new gaming scene. I'm tired of phones in general.
All I said was that I'm sick of Android's crappiness. XD
Also, @Kougeru, all the people I know who have had Android phones (6...?) ditched them, either for cheap dumb phones or iPhone. I know maybe one person who likes his Droid X.

Well, I work for Gameloft, and I don't remember seeing anyone from Madrid at all at the company "lunch-ins". And by lunch-ins, I mean when they'd occasionally let us out of our solitary cells and into a shared cell for our helping of protein-enriched goop.

i absolutely hate gameloft. literally all their games are clones of existing games without putting even the slightest bit of originality to it. hope they go bankrupt.

Separate HD and non-HD versions of games is just one of many things that keeps iOS gaming squarely in the category of "You can't be serious" for me. I respect iOS as its own platform -- I even own an iPod touch -- but selling separate versions in which the HD one can be marked up 30-40% is ridiculous. For real portable gaming, I'll stick to my handhelds thank you. (And loving the 3DS right now!)
