Disney making animated video game movie: Wreck-It Ralph

MCV reports that during Disney's D23 fan expo, Disney announced the next film under its Disney Animation studio: Wreck-It Ralph, about a destructive 8-bit game character looking for a game in which he can be a hero -- like his in-game rival, Fix-It Felix.

The film, due in November next year, features cameos from licensed game characters, including a Pac-Man ghost, who is part of Ralph's video game character support group. FirstShowing posted images of the show floor display, including a themed arcade machine. It also reports that John C. Reilly will voice Ralph, with 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix.

We look forward to the inevitable tie-in games, based on the movie based on video games.

oh ok. just checking since i know people view disney as money hungry pigs but really idc as long as they keep giving me their animated movies :3 i absolutely LOVE the toy story trilogy :D my friends are l0z3rs lol. they refused to go with me to see it claiming it was for little kids >_

I can already picture John C. Reilly doin the voice for the character in the pic.Sounds like a cool idea for an animated movie.

@SgtDookie I just picture him as Dr. Steve Brule in everything he does now... and with that alone, I'm sold on this movie.

if John C. Reilly is voicing Ralph then they better put in at least 10 sinks for him pull off the wall and wreck.

I'm okay with this.

Especially with the Popeye arms, Donkey Kong motif, and the 8-bit style wrapped around an unemployed hero theme. :] I look forward to the trailers/movie of it.

Yeah, this has real potential.

Was this pitched as "The Making of Donkey Kong Country?"

I wonder if there will be a sort of 'Woody and Buzz thing' going on with Ralph being the old, 8-bit character and there being a new, fancy pants guy with better graphics or something.

I can't help but think this is going to be some patronizing half-assed attempt at appealing to gamers young and old. It's like Disney is scraping the bottom of the barrel for new movie ideas.

For some reason the artstyle reminds me of Winnie the Pooh.

So I guess since the character didn't exist before it can't be a bad videogame movie adaption... but does this mean the videogame adaptation of the movie will suck?

....yeah, probably.

I listen to a geek podcast ironically called Geek Show Podcast and they were talking about his movie. It sounds so freaking awesome and great. There is going to be a lot of video game tie ins to this movie including Halo and some other awesome games. Anyone that bad mouths this can kiss my ass.

So it;s sort of like Who Framed Roger Rabbit...

"I'll wreck it" sounds more like a sexual innuendo than anything else.

Hate Disney games, but love most of their movies. If it's Pixar-quality, I'll definitely see it.

I kind of preferred the original working title "Reboot Ralph". I think it was easier to say, but wheatever. I'm still a whore for just about all things Disney so I'm pretty excited.
