Ni No Kuni PS3 finally dated in Japan, still not announced anywhere else

Ni no Kuni, the RPG made through a collaboration between Level-5 and Studio Ghibli, came out on DS in Japan late last year. The PS3 version was shown at TGS, but still has yet to be released. Andriasang reports that the latest issue of Famitsu features a date for the Japanese PS3 release: November 17.

Even if you've imported the DS game and its giant book, this one will be of interest. In addition to fancy HD graphics, the PS3 game has a new story about young boy Oliver in the magical "Another World," and a completely different battle system that is closer to real-time than turn-based. If you're just waiting on details of a western release ... well, there's still no word from Level-5.

I might hold out hope for the PS3 release but Nintendo of America has been spotty at best when it comes to delivering on the games front.

Japan hasn't been localizing a lot of the games I want like this. Bamco probably won't localize Gundam Extreme Vs PS3, Nintendo and Fire Emblem (DS), and Capcom won't localize MHP3 PS3 version. I want to play games that aren't in moon guys...

I've been watching this game since it was announced; it looks so incredibly good. Of course, that probably means we'll never get it.

Hey, even if it isn't released stateside, all PS3 games aren't region locked so you can import if you want.

I'm hoping this makes it to other regions though. Looking good.

Really? Because thats apparently what its going to cost if it comes here, According to some other site. I forget which because i view articles from Google Reader.

I was just about to post the same thing, wondered what happened to it. Hopefully there will be some miracle of US/UK localization.

This really needs to come to the US. I understand that it would, most likely, take a very long time for the translation but there is, definitely, a market and plenty of rabid fans here to make it a success. I would easily pay $100 for it.

Because the PS3 is higher in quality.

If this doesn't get released here in the states I WILL learn Japanese, no question. I love Ghibli and honestly I haven't played a good rpg on the PS3 yet.

@Kenjamin You havent played a good RPG on the PS3 yet *out of choice*. There are plenty of good RPGs.

The Japanese in this game is pretty simple--elementary, even. I recommend people to give it a try if you have a good grasp on the language.

It's ...not great of an RPG. It's a children's game, so don't feel surprised if you're not being challenged. If I were you, i'd just go and get a real rpg on the PS3. There's always so many RPGs to choose from on Playstation consoles and I'm surprised if you haven't played one on the PS3.

Level-5, if you don't localize it, I'll personally kill you. Yes, this is an empty and pointless threat; but I WANT THAT GAME.

I really hope the PS3 game and the DS game come over here. Day 1 purchases on both.

I imported the DS one and enjoyed the interaction between the book and the game, as well as the cutscenes, but I gave up on it around halfway(?) because it was just not challenging me at all, even on the bosses. Far too easy. I don't think I'll be getting the PS3 one unless I hear reports that it at least has a more difficult mode.

Why on earth do some (most?) developers not include difficulty settings? Doubling all enemy stats would probably take only a few lines of code and would have got me to beat the game and throw down more cash for the PS3 version. I don't understand why they would leave it out.

I'll pay 599 US dollars for this game.

After importing Xenoblade successfully, I'm fully open to looking in to importing this. Granted, I know ZERO Japanese, but does exploring and battling monsters take any language skill?

And, to those saying "the PS3 has tons of good RPGs"...name more than White Knight and Demons Souls, and Ill give you a cookie. Every other RPG is either on the 360, the Wii, or all 3. For it's previous system literally swimming in JRPGs, the PS3 can't even THINK of being categorized in the same respect as the PS2. Just no.

Sub it and ship it to the states, please.

I'll look into importing the DS game, now.... thanks for reminding me!

This is why I bought an XL.

Hopefully, I will be able to pick this up while in Tokyo this coming November :)
