Did I miss something? Since when was spyro so evil looking? This little dragon looks like it's ready to eat human flesh, not the lovable tiny dragon from the past.

The Wii version looks very good! It's rare that I rave about colors in video games, but they look amazing.

Whilst I'm not excited about this game at all, I do like one thing, and that wold be the horrid toy and "Portal of Power" gimmick. The reason I like it? Cross-platforms saves. At least, it sounds like you can do that. If so, that's a nice step in the right direction (although that doesn't make me think any more of the game).
Now let's just hope they don't try to make another Crash Bandicoot game. Oh, I'm sorry. I mean Crash. He's so radically different now, he may as well be an alien. Why did they destroy my childhood? Damn those horrible developers!

For crying out loud, they couldn't even get spyro's friggin' COLOR SCHEME right on everything but the 3DS version? ugh.. I do want to pick this up, the game itself seems quite good, and very colorful, but I will not be getting the Spyro toy. Bleagh. Call me when they come out with the "Retro Spyro" toy that they will inevitably release.

Doubt it. I don't know your reason for asking, but if it's that you don't want to purchase the toys, I believe it will come with at least one toy. Think of it as a much newer version of Nintendo's R.O.B. Essentially, it's a part of the game that's extended into an accessory. And in this case it's also a memory card.
