Black Rock Shooter is actually an RPG, and NIS America is publishing it on PSP

Black Rock Shooter: The Game is a PSP RPG, one of Imageepoch's "JRPG" line of games. It's based on a growing media empire (anime, music manga) featuring a young woman who carries a cannon that fires rocks. So it's not just a clever name!

As you might expect of a game with a cannon-wielding protagonist, Black Rock Shooter has elements of third-person shooting (like ... shooting), but it's alongside RPG-style leveling.

NIS America plans to release Black Rock Shooter in America and Europe as part of its deal with Imageepoch. The company has yet to date these releases, "but we are working hard to get it out as soon as possible," said NIS's Jack Niida in the announcement. "Please look forward to this amazing game."

How the heck did a custom vocaloid design someone made like ten years ago expload into all this awesome?

Technically she's not a custom Vocaloid she's a character Huke created, pre-vocaloid with a passing similarity to Miku, later someone used Miku to create a theme song for her and people just made assumptions when the song got popular.

Indeed, Sometimes I forget it was Ryo because so many of his newer songs are so much better than BRS. It's like he was almost a different person skill wise.

Absolutely cannot believe they are bringing this over, but I won't complain!

It's their job to promote the game regardless of it being good or bad, so they'll say whatever sounds complimentary enough to convince people.

Well I wasn't initially planning on looking forward to it until you pointed out that they had asked nicely for our consideration.

This is amazing news. Huge BRS fan.

I'm so stoked for this game. Even thought it just recently came out in Japan (I think), I'm really hoping that we'll see it before the year is out. It would also be awesome if they made a UMD version, mainly because I really dislike digital downloads.

NISA usualy do UMD releases for larger games and save the downloadable option for smaller less demanding games.

PSP still getting releases, gotta love it.

god dammit i love NIS. i find it a bit funny that they support the psp more then sony themselves do.

Yeah I think NIS is hands down one of my all time favorite game companies. Words really do them no justice.

The best I could do is to say as much as I HATE EA (and its hard to put into words how much I HATE EA), I LOVE NIS!

I love the PSP's library. I really do.

Nope just the one OVA. which doesnt have the same story as this. I assume the character is very open to interpretation depending on who decides to tackle her.
